The Religious Wars

Topic started on 17-10-2003 @ 11:23 AM by Colonel

This is the republican party in naked for all to see: right wing religious fanatics. Even Bush said God told him to invade countries! What the hell is going on here?

If God supposedly tells someone to KILL someone, what do we do with that person? We LOCK them up! But, Bush is in the White House. Now, we have General William “Jerry” Boykin on some religious crusasde. This is freakin scary! We are at the beginniing of the 21st Century and we have fanatical religious zealots as our leaders as tho we were in the Dark Ages!

"Well, is he [bin Laden] the enemy? Next slide. Or is this man [Saddam] the enemy? The enemy is none of these people I have showed you here. The enemy is a spiritual enemy. He’s called the principality of darkness. The enemy is a guy called Satan.
"Why are terrorists out to destroy the United States? Boykin said: “They’re after us because we’re a Christian nation.”
NBC News military analyst Bill Arkin, who’s been investigating Boykin for the Los Angeles Times, says the general casts the war on terror as a religious war: “I think that it is not only at odds with what the president believes, but it is a dangerous, extreme and pernicious view that really has no place.”

When is th madness gonna end??????

He told one gathering: "Why is this man in the White House? The majority of Americans did not vote for him. He's in the White House because God put him there for a time such as this."

All I can say is, sometimes, when people get fired up about their faith, they go off the deep end...look at the Crusades, look at the Gi-hads...

I honestly don't think Bush is trying to incorporate the conflict with the terrorists into a "Holy-War" so to speak, I think is trying to make reference to his beliefs vs. those of his ('our') opponents (Iraq, Afghanistan).

"I knew my God was bigger than his. I knew that my God was a real god and his was an idol," Gen Boykin said.

Making comments like those, Gen. Boykin is treading dangerous waters politically...

Does Jihad mean holy war??? I was under the impression it did.

This general just stated the obvious and the leftists have to uproar aginst him for not being PC on the battlefield- he saw men die in Mogudishu under his command by those who would see the West burn in flames.

Radical Islam has no love for the west....

Take Egypt, where 76 percent view America unfavorably. America gives substantial aid to Egypt, nearly $2 billion a year, making Egypt the second largest recipient of U.S. foreign aid. America used its military to save Muslims in Kuwait, Somalia, Kosovo and Bosnia. Yet in a post-Gulf War poll, 74 percent of Kuwaitis called Osama bin Laden a hero, with 36 percent calling the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks justified.

That is just classic. I love the quote...

"I'm talking to all of you, here!" continued God, His voice rising to a shout. "Do you hear Me? I don't want you to kill anybody. I'm against it, across the board. How many times do I have to say it? Don't kill each other anymore—ever! I'm #ing serious!"

And we still get the "Radical Islam" rants.
