That's why they are called Anti material rifles

That's not to say they aren't used against humans. I believe most US sniper stationed in Iraq right now use the .50BMG because it offers them a wide variety of options. They can attack anything from a person to a light armored APC. Not to mention the psychological factor, seeing your buddy torn apart from a .50 cal round will make you think twice about sticking your head out.

True but on Antipersonel duty .338 Lapua Mag will do the job just as well as .50bmg and you won't have to break your back with carrying it

Hey guys, I have a bit of advice for you. If you want to be taken seriously, you need to have correct information on your pages, and last time I checked, the OICW did not fire a 200mm grenade.

The XM109 is what fans of the Cyberpunk genre call "assault cannons", long range rifles designed to fire long-range grenades. I can see lots of applications for this thing, eventually phasing out the .50 cal rifles currently in service (the ideal set of rounds for your sniper weapons would be 6.5mm for counter-snipers and marksmen, .338 Lapua for full-blown sniper rifles, and 25mm for anti-vehicle/anti-materiel work. I still think that the XM109 shows a lot of promise, because you can take out an armored car or light APC from a mile a way with a gun that's only 46" long.
