In what is being reported as a terrorist attack, three explosions have rocked a market and a hotel in the resort town of Dahab, Egypt. More than 90 people are reported injured or killed. Story just breaking now.
"There were body parts and debris in the street ... There are ambulances and cars taking people to hospital," one witness, who refused to be named, told Reuters news service.

"There is smoke coming from the area and there are people running everywhere," Reuters quoted another witness as saying.

Witnesses reported hearing the blasts and said they saw smoke coming from a market in the middle of the Sinai Peninsula town. Because of the Coptic Easter holiday, the resort town is crowded with tourists.

Please visit the link provided for the complete story.

My prayers go out to those affected by this tragedy.

Is this another al-Qaeda attack? Will there be another posting claiming al-Qaeda involvement on an undisclosed website? Or perhaps another al-Zarqawi tape that no one ever gets to hear? The recent disclosing of the Pentagon's "white lies" makes nothing for certain these days.

I found reports of "only" 30 Dead:

Three explosions shook the Egyptian Sinai resort of Dahab on Monday, killing 30 people and wounding more than 100, rescue and security officials said.

Witnesses said smoke billowed up from the town's tourist bazaar, and residents said they saw body parts and debris on the street after an explosion at a restaurant.

An Interior Ministry statement gave a toll of 10 dead and 100 injured. The ministry often lags behind other sources. It said there were four foreigners among the dead, but did not give their nationalities.

Blasts rock Egyptian resort town

At least 22 people have been killed and scores more injured in three explosions in the Egyptian resort town of Dahab.

The blasts occurred in a central area frequented by tourists at about 1915 local time (1715 GMT) when many people would be out in cafes and restaurants.

Where did you get with the 90+ number?

The story was breaking when I posted. The CNN story I link to stated more than 90 casualties, but has been updated since then as more of the story unfolds. It now says 70 injured, 10 dead. Remember, "casualty" means killed and/or injured.

The TV news is now reporting that number.

Ever since I was a little kid I have always wanted to go to Egypt.
I have a strong pull to go there. I found cook books with
Egyptian dishes and I read everything I could on the history
and the people there... Gosh I really wish I could
go. It's one of two things I want to do in life before I die.
(the other is to go to Antarctica). But ... I highly doubt I'll ever
get there. Sad sad sad.

Hunh,....our administration says we need to fear terrorism, and it looks like more pain, death, and fear is being inflicted on muslims and other residents of the Mid-East. I'm fearing their safety more than mine.

Just thinking out loud. Praying quietly.

I do not regularly do a 2nd reply to threads or news,
but this morning i discovered something that irked me during my follow-up on this terror bombing.
At this site->>there's an article titled:
'Dahab, the morning after'

includes text, pics, and a video ~ 02:15

My Point...
in the closing scene of the video showing some of the bomb damage,
there is a storefront that is panned, which has large letters applied that
identifies the store as "Santa Clause Jewelry. com"
......i think that is a tacky ploy....

So, please resist your curiosity to see if there is an active link on the internet to that site/store.

And the plot Thickens...

Retired General Salah al-Din Salim, an Egyptian researcher at the Strategic Studies Institute in Cairo, said that it could not be ruled out that the Israeli Mossad was involved in the terror attack in Dahab.

"The Mossad's ability to penetrate the Bedouins in Sinai is known," Salim said in an interview with al-Jazeera. (Roee Nahmias)

And another Interesting article:

Israelis Warned Before Blasts To Stay Away From Sinai

Counter-Terrorism Bureau Head Danny Arditi issued a warning to Israeli citizens just a few weeks ago to refrain from visiting any Arab country.

Speaking to Ynet, Arditi said: "The warnings in our hands lead to small organizations affiliated with al-Qaeda in one way or another. A month ago we issue a travel warning to Israelis against traveling to Egypt, including Sinai, following relatively reliable intelligence on intentions to carry out terror attacks against foreign and Israeli tourists."

"According to this report there were fear that a terror attack or an abduction of Israelis in Sinai could be carried out. We strongly advised Israeli citizens to avoid all visits in Sinai, and for Israelis staying in Sinai to leave immediately," Arditi said.

Well that happened before, didn't it?
