Postage stamps and convienience fees

What is the deal with the six cent fee to buy a stamp at a federal postal outlet center. The price was 43 cents for one stamp. They were two blocks away from the actual post office and even told me they were a branch off of the post office? We have people making a profit on a government product? Say it isn't so!
