Everyone likes to make oil companies the scapegoat for high gas prices. The fact of the matter is it is simple supply and demand and futures prices.

That being said I submit for your review a link of the price breakdown for gasoline for the last 7 years.

Note the % for profit has in fact gone down for station owners and supplyers. Also note over that time that taxes have not gone down but have gone up.

So you don't like the high price of gas? Thank your local environmentalists who won't let us get any more domestic production( ie higher supply) and the spineless politicians who are afraid of the Sierra Club and their leftwing ilk.
Why is it the liberals are always going after oil companies with laughable ideas like windfall taxes and price controls (which would do NOTHING to help the consumer) yet they never mention easing taxes temporarily? In CA alone you could save nearly $.60 a gallon if there was a temporary tax lift. Lord knows they would never do that though...

'tis always easier to blame "the other guy," rather then blame the people who are actually causing this upsurge in oil costs.

Iraq Invasion, Iran Nukes, and the 9/11 attacks are to blame, not the Sierra Club or the Liberals. The Right Wing fundamentalists are to blame on both sides on the Atlantic.

Who is benefitting?

Surprise, Surprise. Exxon is at the top.

Saudi Royals probably funded Al Q. for this very reason, knowing that those nutbars would attack the US causing major instability in the economy and making the US administration go insane.
