And some more. Feel free to add your own to this thread, my ideas are always limited so someone else spicing up the thread with some "Beginners" avatars would be great.

So...I would really love to start making my own avatars but here's my question....(excuse it if it sounds lame.)

Where do you guys get the graphics from? Do you down load them from a source and manipulate them with the software? i never understood this.

I really love vintage looking graphics but don't know where to get them?
Thanks in advance for any hlep....

Hi sdp333

Well I'm no expert but a month ago I knew nothing about makng Avatars.

What I did was do a google search for images on say UFO's - picked some images I
liked and downloaded them.

Then you need some kind of photo editing software either Picture it or photoshop or something similar.

You resize the image down to about 160 X 320 pixels which is a good size for an
Avatar and add any text you like and alter anything you like and thats about it.

Thats a simple way to make an Avatar - I know the more expert Avatar Artists can
make their own pictures from scratch but I'm not that good.

Anyway hope that helps a bit.

Hi sdp333

Yep, download an image from anywhere - google image search is a good place to start and then you have to use an image editing piece of software to resize and crop the image to fit an area no bigger than 160 pixels wide by 320 pixels long

Many people here use Photoshop as it is the best around, but if you can't get a copy from a friend it is expensive to buy

Try downloading something for free and see how you get on - www.download.com is a good site for free stuff just scroll down past the adverts, read some reviews and choose some software you like the sound of

Not sure what you mean by vintage images - do you mean like old propaganda posters?

Hope this is of help

Jamesmickael - you beat me to it!!
