$6.00 a gallon, when?

I know it kind of seems a bit far off, but when do you think gas will reach an average of $6.00 a gallon in the States? My guess is probably within the next 5 years. At the rate we are consuming gas, it might even be sooner.

In my country the price is 1.7 dollar, but thats for 1 litre.

The price in the USA is not near the price in europe

thats a great price. maybe then we will boot california's ideals and start allowing the advanced diesel cars that get 60 mpg to be sold in this country.

you will find that the golf with the tdi diesel engine has been derated down to only 44mpg. that's 100 percent bullsh*t

now which would you want sold here in the us.

a car that gets 61 mpg or 44mpg

i know what my choice is. i just want to know if i can get one from europe with a left hand drive. i can't read the german site of vw but if i recall correctly germany is a left hand drive cars. I want one and i'll pay to have it shipped over here. even if i can't resell it here. bite me california and the epa

my current commute to and from work would barely use a gallon of diesel. lots of people would barely use half a gallon a day or less.

swap out the gas engines in your current hybrids for the same diesel engine and then you have some serious mpg. maybe on the order of 100+mpg

depends on where you live. reg gas is 2.65 in the northwest

Its $2.82 here cause we're special. This tourist trap will draw blood out of you every chance they get.

Here where I live the gas price is about $2.95 nearing $3.00 a gallon.

I cant remember exactly how much

Here it goes if I understand you correct.

It comes with 2 different engines:

4 cyl-engine 1.9 stroke volume 105 hp goes 17,5 on a litre

1 gallon = 3,8 liters

that means 3.8 * 17,5 = 66,5 kilometre on a gallon

66,5 / 1,6 mile = 41,5 miles on a gallon

4 cyl-engine 2.0 stroke volume 140 hp goes 16,5 on a litre

3.8 * 16,5 = 62,7 kilometre on a gallon

62,7 / 1,6 mile = 39,2 miles on a gallon

epa and california. if a car can't be sold in california they won't bring it into the usa

And why do the cars have to go in California? Why not New York or any other major city on the east coast?

they don't but why shut out the 7th largest economy in the world. but if it would be banned from sale there then they wont bring it in or they will derate it till it meets the standard there.

doesn't stop you from buying over seas and having it shipped here
