Im sure people have played games such as Mechwarrior and Heavy Gear where people can sit inside gigantic robots. If one had the funds to build one of these things, would it be possible, if not now then 20 or so years from now?

Apparently they are not cost efficient and it is unlikely that mechs will come to be.
