the main stay still of the US air force defensive network is the PAVE PAWS radar system designed and built by the RAYTHEON company

the PAVE PAWs is very "impressive" phase array radar systems it is capable of detecting submarine launched ballistic missiles up to 3,000 miles away.

The system can also "spot", "indentfy", and "track" multiple targets as small as "basketballs" up to 1,200 miles away on top of the fact that their beams can cover vast areas of the ARTIC, ATLANTIC, CARIBBEAN, GULF of MEXICO, and PACIFIC waters.

the PAVE PAWs installations are strategically located such as at BEALE (SAC)AFB CA, CAPE COD air force station MA, ELDORADO air force station TX, ROBINs AFB GE, and a couple others out side the us such as an air station in GREENLAND

there are also countless other defensive systems ranging from their space and satellite tracking programs, to missile defense systems such as the MEADs(Medium Extended Air Defense system) to replace the Pats system, the THAAD(Theatre High Altitude Air Defense system), to the "boost-phase" ballistic missile system to be house an mounted on a BOEING 747-400 platform

Indeed that piece of tech looks awfully impressive. I'll have to do some more research on that beast. Some good air defense technology can be found throughout the research of the "Star Wars" program. Hard to find facts on this program because it remains awfully classified, as it remains enacted in legislation. Give it a good google or even search the ATS for it. A ton of money gets put into this program to the day for crazy technologies for the future and present. Without a doubt a good topic to research for somebody with your interest. good luck buddy

As soon as it undergoes repairs in Pearl Harbor the Sea Based X-Band Radar will be moving to Alaska.
