Would it be possible to convert binary into electrochemical messages which the brain can understand? Vise versa. Me and some people got thinking what the future of games would be. We figured it would be being able to play a dream. Like the Matrix. Anyone have any opinions on this subject? I think it would make for some very fascinating discussion.

even better! as is being done to us now, microwave frequencies can be used to trigger electro-chemical responses in the brain.
don't now why i feel so paranoid today?

you mentioned games. Do you mean as humans being able to hook up to machines that will make us feel like we're in a real environment?

If thats what you mean, I think it's definetly possible. I don't think it'll be available in the near future, but it doesn't seem too hard to "trick" the brain into believing that they're someplace else.

yes, as we see most people are tricked in their emotions into thinking, by chemicals, that all is as it should be...
very complacent with the roles we play in all of our different parts of "society"...
why is it not that these roles are games themselves?...
further the chemical responses we recieve from our "programming" ie. school, home, church, and so forth, creating the game environment?...
yes, i see the matrix and its lines of code everywhere i step and look...
money is not real it is imiginary...
most of the feelings of love people supposedly feel is not real it is imiginary...
and the gratifing feeling one recieved when recieving a promotion is not real it is imiginary...
all the constructs of some other being playing games with the mind of men...
are these the games we are referring to?...

Half-life 2

How good would the games be. Oh the fu, the horror, the terror, the excitement, action, everything. w007 ;P

IT would be DaBomb.

Easily addictable.

It would be like the Hologram deck out of Star Trek.

DO whatever you want in what situation you want ;P

That would be great

It owul dbe just like lucid dreaming except it'd be much better ;P

ahhhh...red pill or blue pill.

Would you rather live in your own private paradise that only existed in your mind or choose to live the real life?

Most people would probably say the real world. But judging by the number of people who choose to spend their free time in front of the TV in an attempt to experience someone else life; I have feeling there would be a lot of people hooked up to a machine.

Yup, I could work for a few years, make enough money to buy the machine and hire someone to feed me through an IV everyday, spend the rest of my life doing two chicks at the same time in the virtual reality world.

There is the the theory that all reality is just what the brain experiences so who knows maybe reality IS a hologram.

I just want a holodeck!

Of course, gaming wouldn't be the biggest industry that would use that tech....it'd be Porn! They'd make some hella bucks on that one...!!!

Fully functional holodeck-style porn is an enticing thought, however I can't get over playing PSO or FFVII in a 3D holographic environment.

I believe it was, cheesy as it may seem, in the first Matrix movie
that Morpheus confronted Neo's sense of reality after being unplugged by stating that when the end had come, humankind had "marvelled at its magnificence, fate it would seem would not be without a certain irony." The advent of neuro-interrfaced simulation is the beginning of population control, sleepers and the like. Unless of course like everything else, we as humans have to bugger ourselves before we see the err of our ways.

They never showed that on Star Trek did they, the porn I mean. They always show the guys playing music or doing something intellectual or participating in some literary work from the past. Not me, I would be like: "Computer...give me the Play Boy Mansion...20 big busted blonde girls...all wearing sexy lingerie...and they all want me." Yup, if Star Trek wants to give a real interpretation of the future, they are going to need that on more episodes.
