The Fifth Essence

In his latest book, William Irwin Thompson offers his readers various schema for examining stages of the evolution of human consciousness [Coming Into Being, New York: St. Martin's Press, 1996]. This paper raises some questions about the metaphor through which thinkers may wish to consider the nature of the current stage.

Thompson begins with McLuhan's schema, which identified five stages of human social development, each identified by its medium of communication and therefore the Oral, Script, Alphabetic, Print and Electric stages.

Thompson himself also categorizes five stages of development, cross-indexed against axis of economy, polity, and cohesive association.

how have we come so far and be so little....

From the context of analyzing all major religions, a potential response, is that words have nothing to do with the answers you are looking for.

How is love expressed in concrete terms?

One answer is that God is love.

Consider that from the context of form and substance and taking into consideration, that what is to us an emotion. Is to God, something he can touch in the same way, you can touch your own hand.

The quark is the point manifestation of the quantum chromo dynamic field, the photon is the point manifestation of the electromagnetic field, the graviton is the point manifestation of the gravity field and what we are trying to name here is the point manifestation of the space-time field.

Funny thing is, is there really that big of a difference between what is being said here and what I am presenting in this response? Or is it merely a different perspective of the same thing?
