Removing Posts

Can members remove a post after we have posted it? I posted something that is already on here that's why I'm asking.

You can't, but you can use the button and ask the mods to remove it.

It is at the top left of the screen.

Regarding removal of posts, FredT, the mod, has rightly removed my thread regarding the MiG 25 FOXBAT as I had not included the link to the info.
My fault. An oversight of gigantic proportions!
OK, having said that, I got a U2U from him asking me to send the link so that it can be inserted and the thread reactivated in all its glory!
But, alas, in spite of having done this, I haven't seen hair nor hide of this thread.

Has it been permanently dumped?
What is the time frame for reactivation of a thread in these circumstances??

mikesingh, I recomend using the button or asking FredT in a U2U.
I really don't know what has happened to your thread.

How do you move a post to a different area?

I'm sorry to say, that members can't do that either. So, keep that in mind, before posting a new thread.

You can ask a Moderator to do it for you though, but it would depend on whether you are seeking to move it to a more appropriate forum.

Additionally, a Moderator may move your thread, if it is determined that it was not originally posted in an appropriate forum. In this case, you will be notified by u2u, including the reason why it was moved.

Also note, that you have two hours (from the time of original post) in which you can edit your post.

Try using the 'SUGGESTION' button. Describe the problem, and include all related information. When you post it here, it will have the chance to be viewed by all staff members, and the likelyhood of getting a response will increase dramatically. btw - did you try u2u'ing him to ask what had happened?

Is it hypothetically possible to remove everything in your post by editing thereby essentially removing your post? Or is that just wrong?

If you removed everything in your post by editing, your post would be left with the following :


"[edit on 4/9/2006 by polanski]"

and nothing more.

You may get a warning for that though, so better to add something along the lines of "Edit = remove text from post, for (whatever reason)"
