I guess as an Iranian it is traditional for me to start the pissing contest with a inflammatory comment, seeing as that is how all the Iranian threads are treated by our American friends. But I'll pass on that, and congratulate our American friends on the strides that they have made during the last century, and the growth in technology, which they have generated. Hopefully these ugly weapons of war will not be used by either side, and a peaceful solution can be found to this problem, because at the end of the day it is always the civilians and the weak who are injured by wars.

Hello, Sep: There are many people here in America that were born here as I was, or who have become citizens through immigration. But, many of them are NOT "Americans." One has to have the correct beliefs and ideals to be a true American.

As difficult as it might be for some to believe, we do NOT wish war on anyone, including Iran. We are quite aware that there are thousands there who have a desire for freedom... to judge for themselves how they wish to run their lives, and what type of future they wish for their country. Us going to war with Iran would not be a positive step in that direction, for it might alienate the very people there who want the same freedoms we have here.

It has been over a year now that we have been trying it the way others wish..... through the U.N. and by other means. History shows that appeasement and negotiations have never had peace as the outcome; peace only follows victory, and I still challenge anyone to prove me wrong.... at what time, in what place, peace has come through negotiations.

We do not force our way of life down peoples throats, as some claim we have done. We force freedom and liberty down the throats of dictators and tyrants, so their people may decide for themselves. That is what I wish for you and your countrymen. I, too, congratulate you and your countrymen on the strides you have made in many areas.

Accidentally killing innocentes under the guise of war is not OK.

In a perfect world, there would be no need for our military
This is not a perfect world.

Civilian deaths can be best avoided by going back to swords and sheilds, what are the odds of that happening?

In WWII it could take 1000 bombers(10,000 men) Plus there escorts just hit
a target( A hit back then ment one bomb landed withing 100ft of a target)

Theres an ammo dump in there somewhere

Now to the modern day. A single B-2 can destroy 16 targets with minimal collateral damage.

Fearsome pics there keenkid.

Just a thought tho, who are the guys in the tenth picture down? they dont look like regular infantry.
Its a bit tricky to see but it looks like theyre armed with FN FALs /SLRs. Plus the helmets dont looks like the same, theyre more domed shaped, whereas your guys helmets are squarer and have the characteristic "ear guards" as it were. The camo also looks strange, more like what the german Bundesweher wear, as opposed to normal american DPM.

Any info on em?

national guard possibly?good eye though

Please don´t post huge pictures. Big pictures messes up the page. Resize them. Usually they should not be wider than about 650 pixels. Thank you.

How do they aim this thing?
There's a porthole to the left of the big gun, but it seems more like "look ma, I'm shootin!" rather than hitting the target?

The pilot has a Heads Up Display mounted to his left side. He puts the plane into a left bank, and it shows him the target area. Once he sets the computer to the target it's all computer controlled, and he just keeps the crosshairs on the target as they turn.

I'm rather scared by the enthusiasm you americans show for your weapons and your desires to be "the top dog" you all keep on keeping bigger and bigger weapons as "deterants" where will it end. Where you've got the power to destroy the entire galaxy and the enemy only have the power to destroy the world? What happens if someone screws up... we're all gonna get blown up eventually
ah well I won't be able to gloat if it happens.

You have no idea how close we came during the cold war. I know a guy that was pilot on the EC-135 Looking Glass planes, and one day when he was on alert he got te order to launch. Not an exercise, a valid launch order. He said he's never been so scared in his life, because no one know if there was going to be a home to return to.

Where was he when he got the order?

I'm guess that was during the Cuban Missile Crisis? I didn't think they had the Looking Glass aircraft back then, though.

My personal favorite weapon in the US armory, the Javelin.

And my favorite aircraft of all time, the A-10.

The A-10 is death incarnate to enemy armor. As proven time and again.

heres the MLRS which can be fitted with ATACMS missiles for much more range

i have one question why not screw the MEADS and just use THAAD and change the seeker from infra red to radar it makes more sense.
