Was St. John the divine an astral traveler?

In the Book of Revelations after St. John has his vision in the cave of Christ with white hair, does he astral project to heaven? can you astral project to heaven?

After this I looked, and, behold, A DOOR WAS OPEN in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

And immediately I WAS IN SPIRIT: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.

Maybe he was tripping on some hallucinogenic drug and having a good time by the sounds of it?
