Has anyone realized that ATS uses google to search though its website! Google keeps records of peoples search history. So therefore, they have us on record each time we have searched for a thread. If ATS is a conspiracy website, then we dont want the government to spy on us through this website right? Then why havent the 3 amigos changed the ATS website search Engine, when they probably know that google keeps records?

The whole world is "logged"... if one doesn't like it there are options.

yes, but most people on ATS don't know any other options, they use the search feature because its easier.

Sorry dude, I meant EVERYTHING is logged. Echelon, Magic Lantern. Visit the 3letter place in virginia and then watch your router log for a while... You'll get it. Everything.

If you don't like the google search you can always use the boolean search.

Edit:

or even the Thread tag search.

I don't use the search feature much here at ATS. I have noticed that when I do a Yahoo search I get a lot of ATS results.
I search for a lot of the stuff that people post here.

I don't mind if it's logged really, I'm not doing anything illegal.

I doesent matter if you are not doing anything illegal, the government still knows who you are and has a record on you when you use google to search, and they are trying to find the 1 in 10. I belive that most people in this site are the 1 in 10. They will lock us up in an internment camp when the U.S. becomes a police state.

I honestly don't think the government would need Google to get our information. If they want it, the can just grab it. Getting it from Google would just be easier since the work is done for them already.

And didn't Google refuse to give the search queries to the government, anyway?

What "1 in 10" are you talking about?

And why are you afraid of this? You put your yahoo name on ATS, which is an sbcglobal email adress. That's pretty much a portal to who you are as is, and it's right in the public eye.

the 1 in 20, is the person that is open to ideas, and does not have a slide memory. And yes, the supreme court made them turn over the search results.

Google keeps records of peoples search history.

Not really.

They track your search patterns and associate those patterns with a unique identifer (cookie) that you're tagged with. Nothing can be associated with you personally. If you clear your cookies, Google suddenly thinks you're a new user and begins tracking anew.

Doesent matter, cause they still have it on record.

They still know who we are even if we dont use the internet. Pay taxes, bills, credit cards, the list is endless. If they were truly after you they wouldnt need to wait until you used google. Red flags would have already gone up long ago.

At least they cant lock me up in a US internment camp, im in australia. Oh wait a sec, yes they can.

Oh well guess im toast cause i use google all the time.

Yeah, they still can get you, because Australia is the U.S.'s ally, and the world will become a police state. Besides, I dont pay taxes, cause I am not 18 yet, I am 16. ha!
Looks like I am safe

not if you go to school you aint. did you ever visit a doctor, hospital, travel join a club. what details have your parents given to different institutions about you over the years. there really is no escape from the information age.

btw a police state wouldnt work down here, were way to apathetic. they'd soon get bored and move on.

I know, Australia would become a nuclear wasteland,so would africa, because those areas are too large to control, due to their size.

Yeah, Aus kicks ass.

But anyway, the Govt. would have much, much better ways of observing people than using Google to watch what we look for on ATS.

And I don't think the Amigos could be bothered installing a dedicated search engine. It would also cause more crashes - we have enough already!

the fact is, if your on the net, the gov is going to see what you post regardless of where your at.

True you could argue this helps consolidate everyones thoughts into one place...anyway

edit: sorry you were talking about searches not postings...

Gods peace

If I worried about who was going to see what I typed every time I went on the internet, I wouldn't even bother turning the PC on. A lot of people would like to think they get noticed enough to warrant investigation by the state, but the truth is we are small fry. We're not a child porn ring, or a "terrorist" meeting place. This is all just fair discussion, and if it ever got to the point where they could use *this* kind of stuff *against* us, well we'll have more to worry about than what we've written then, because we'll be busy trying to dig ourselves out of the hole.

I just hope Google doesn't doesn't catch wind of my enormous stash of Art Garfunkle, Boris Yeltsin and MC Hammer pictures......if that don't get the Effa-Bee-Eye on to me, nothing will!

(P.s Those stashes don't exist.....seriously
)

What's wrong with Art Garfunkel, chebob!!

p.s. yeah, I suppose we really are just small fry. Erm . . . most unfortunately!
