The lying cretins who gave us the Iraq war aren't content that our soldiers are sitting ducks for terrorists throughout the Middle East now they're using them as props in a propaganda campaign designed to convince the American people that "progress" is being made. As the [Washington] Olympian reports:

"Letters from hometown soldiers describing their successes rebuilding Iraq have been appearing in newspapers across the country as U.S. public opinion on the mission sours.

"And all the letters are the same.

"A Gannett News Service search found identical letters from different soldiers with the 2nd Battalion of the 503rd Airborne Infantry Regiment, also known as 'The Rock,' in 11 newspapers, including Snohomish, Wash."

www.antiwar.com...As a veteran of the Gulf War, I find this type of propaganda infuriating. Rumsfeld and his crew are PATHETIC.

Whoops!

"An Army battalion commander has taken responsibility for a public-relations campaign that sent hundreds of identical letters to hometown newspapers promoting his soldiers' rebuilding efforts in Iraq.

Lt. Col. Dominic Caraccilo said he wanted to highlight his unit's work and "share that pride with people back home." "

Here's the explanation for the hoax letters. This is plain pathetic. Some officers will do anything to get their full-bird (Colonel).
Letters Home

By Martha Raddatz

Oct. 13 The letters appeared in roughly 12 newspapers across the country. From Massachusetts to California, and many places in between, family members and local newspapers received letters from soldiers of the 2nd Battalion of the 503rd Infantry Regiment detailing their successes in northern Iraq.

What more do people need to know for them to understand that this administration is completely full of shyte?

This explains it for folks who don't understand the depth of lies and scheming:

The president's real goal in Iraq

Follow links for greater depth.

The official story on Iraq has never made sense. The connection that the Bush administration has tried to draw between Iraq and al-Qaida has always seemed contrived and artificial. In fact, it was hard to believe that smart people in the Bush administration would start a major war based on such flimsy evidence.
The pieces just didn't fit. Something else had to be going on; something was missing.

In recent days, those missing pieces have finally begun to fall into place. As it turns out, this is not really about Iraq. It is not about weapons of mass destruction, or terrorism, or Saddam, or U.N. resolutions.

This war, should it come, is intended to mark the official emergence of the United States as a full-fledged global empire, seizing sole responsibility and authority as planetary policeman. It would be the culmination of a plan 10 years or more in the making, carried out by those who believe the United States must seize the opportunity for global domination, even if it means becoming the "American imperialists" that our enemies always claimed we were.

The problem is that half the country has let blind faith take over. While there are some encouraging signs that the teflon is wearing off, it's going to require a catalyst to wake people up to the truth. Lets hope it gets here prior to november 04'.

Another problem is the fact that at least half of America still gets its news from ABC, NBC, CBS and CNN. They truly believe (because they've been brainwashed all their lives) that network news is literally from GOD himself. It makes me ill listening to the network "news" and the deceptions that constantly go unchallenged.

Here's a snippet on Gore TV. Franken will most likely be a host.

An Al Gore-led group of investors is but a couple of weeks away from cutting a deal with Vivendi Universal Entertainment to acquire Canadian-based cable network Newsworld International for about $70 million, according to an insider at Universal Television Networks, the Vivendi unit that currently operates the network. But what will emerge from the venture will be no liberal alternative to Fox News, says a report in AdAge.com.

Instead, the all-news channel will be aimed at the standard target the under-25 crowd.

"Liberal TV is dead on arrival; you just can't do it" was the insider advice to Gore, according to the AdAge.com report.
