At least 70 people were injured in Israel on Tuesday by storms that included a tornado and hail the size of ping pong balls.

Nachum Malik, a meteorologist, said that the storm in Western Galilee was a tornado.

"To use military terminology, this is an escalation in terms of weather and a very rare occurrence in Israel," he said.

Tornados in the Middle East??????

Tornados can occur almost anywhere. And the report looks a bit misleading since it seem it was the storms, not a tornado specifically, which caused the injuries (though the 'nado may have caused some)

My guess it what happened was a series of severe thunderstorms, one of which spawned a small tornado - but if I hear any more I'll let you know
