The theory is this:

We are all caught in the 'matrix' and we are struggling to make sense of it, and our unconciouse minds have created a 'gateway' out to talk amongst ourselves. We are struggling to be free, and we are awaiting the 'one' who will give us the grand unifying theory of it all - then in a flash we will all wake up slumped in a pile on a barren destroyed world, and have to start the fight back..........
