I came back from a fishing trip on my home of Diego Garcia in the British Indian Ocean Territories, ready to try this new beer batter recipe I got from a friend. I was going to cook-up some Wahoo when my boss called me from work a said to hold off on the fish. They found over 100 dead fish in the lagoon, and until the Navy is done testing them, don't eat the fish. The local AFN tv station has also been posting an advisory that swimming is now banned as well. Here is a clip from the local Camp Justice paper, but since it's on a military server, I can't link it, but I have the .pdf file if anyone really wants to see it.

No fishing, swimming, beach

The US Navy is investigating the cause
of the increased number of dead fish in the
lagoon and around the island. The cause has
not yet been determined, but could be a
naturally occurring algae bloom causing
water temperature to rise above normal and
decrease levels of oxygen in the water (much
like the Crimson Tide in the Gulf of Mexico).
Until the cause is determined, swimming,
wading, fishing and eating of fish caught in
the lagoon or ocean on or after March 26 is
prohibited.
In addition, until further notice, all
beaches are off-limits for 40th AEG
personnel.
