Catholic retreat houses are to be forced to allow Satanists
to use their facilities.

In the Catholic faith, the altar is not to be used for any purpose
other than the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. If the retreat centers,
or the altars, are used in any way other than Catholic use, then
they are considered desecrated and not able to be used again
unless the Bishop reconsecrates them to God for use in Catholic
worship.

There was a big flap about this recently because either Fatima
or Lourdes (Can't remember which) allowed Buddhists and other
non-Christian groups to use the altars for their services and
then the local bishop refused to reconsecrate. Which in the
Catholic faith means an abomination to God.

What the government is pushing is something that is basically
war against the Catholic faith. Now, I'm not saying that just
because I'm (mostly) Catholic. I say that because I would hope
that governments in the West would be tolerant enough of
each religion's beliefs so as not to push them to do things that
go against their faith in their own faith centers.

I wouldn't want to see the government force Hindus to allow
Buddhist ceremonies; or Wiccans to allow Catholic ones; or
Baptists to allow Muslim ones; etc. etc.

Fury Over New Rules for Guest Houses
Posted on March 29, 2006

New rules forcing Catholics retreat and guest houses to accommodate
gays or even satanists have been met with a flurry of complaints from
those running such businesses that their human rights are being violated.
The director of one leading Catholic retreat centre, the Jesuit run Loyola
Hall on Merseyside, said he would rather go to court than let a black mass
be celebrated on the presmises by a guest. And other Christian bed and
breakfast establishments have also promised to ignore the legislation
which they say conflicts with their Biblical beliefs.

This is all I could find on this subject. I don't know if it's just a flash
in the pan, or if there is more to it. I hope it's just a mistake ...

I don't know about how anyone else feels, but other religions eg Jeudaism Islam, hindus etc, they are all fine to me, and in my opinion thats another way to god, so they are all fine using the altar.
A just god (as I believe there is) would understand that we don't know which is the true religion, so should accept all faiths that worship a god. But satanism is not worship of god, so that shouldn't be allowed.

I'm just a little unclear, under what specifics do they have to give these 'retreats' up to the general public? Are these retreats funded by the government? Are they churches or are they more like hotels and camps owned by catholics?

I still haven't seen any other items discussing this, except
for the one I posted. I have no verification yet.

Catholic retreat centers are just that - Catholic. Funded by
Catholics. Funded by those that go to them. Owned by
the Catholic Church.

Usually anyone is allowed to attend a Catholic retreat and
retreat center that is for lay people (priests and nuns have
their own retreats). That isn't the problem. It's forcing
the Catholic church owned centers to open their doors to
other groups; groups (satanists) who will use the centers
for worship of their god/gods/whatever who are in direct
opposition to what the Catholics believe.

No group should be forced to open their doors to other groups.

APEX - the altar use is a big deal. YOU may not see it as such,
but it is. In that faith it is considered an abomination and a
desecration to have any other worship on the altar except the
Catholic Mass. In essence the government will be forcing a
church to accept what it considers abomination in it's house of
worship. NO GROUP should be forced to do that.

I am puzzled.... The Government doing what now? If these were private property, the Government could do bugger all about it.

Also, this is the very first time I've even heard a squeek about this...
