I'm looking for a piece of information I found on Wikipedia some weeks ago but I think I lost it!

It was about this time an 'alien' transmitted a message over british media. The media companies found no trace of it but a voice was speaking through the sets.

No that wasn't it.
I can't remember all the details but apparantly during a television broadcast a something took control of the waves that control broadcasts(don't know what they're called exactly) and gave an imminent warning involving the usual "change your ways etc".
