I'm getting fed up with the same isp
being stopped by my zone alarm

is there anyway to penalize them ?

I'd like for them to stop

heck it could be just an auto dialer
from a vendor I went to
I really don't know

I guess I'm looking for software
that I could load the ISP into and
it automatically creates a problem
for them but only in defense of my puter
whenever they are probing a port !

I want to return a similar headache
or worse if it'll stop the probing

is there such a thing out there ?

Toasted

It is probably a spyware infected pc/bot. They probably dont even know that their pc is doing it, so they would not understand the punishment.

However, one way to punish active hackers is to create a honeypot but few of us have the time to play like this.

I suggest that you add a hardware firewall to your configuration.

Hey! That is interesting. Somebody is trying to do something!

I sure would like to know more about who is running it before I used it. But it's a cool idea. Even if it is limited to hunting spammers, not hackers.

Did you read paragraph 40 of the criminal complaint against the spammers they list? Haha they list a can of spam among the computer items confiscated during the raid of the spammers headquarters.

Oh, the complaint listed the owner of the honeypot, and the owner of one other honey pot. Besides Microsoft that is.

after giving my system a full scan
and rebooting ,the offending isp
stopped probing my ports ! ...

so it appears that perhaps a cookie
I picked up ,was trying to
communicate back and forth
and was cleaned out.

It's the only
thing that makes sense
considering the events.

ahhhh , another lesson learned ,
in the long long learning curve
of computers and the internet...

[ the honeypot is still on the back burner...
