Who says you're not welcome here? And I'm not posting as a mod, I've been too active in this thread to do so without bias. The only reason I would take a moderator action (other than applause) is if it's absolutely neccessary.

And what that guy has been saying has been proven wrong. Like I said before, if you read through this thread and the other one you'll understand how his ideas have been disproven.

There is another group that claims there will be comet fragments striking the earth.
I think Eric the Frenchie stole the idea from them.
I don't know what to make of it.

Prophecy

So did anyone get a good look at the fragment as it passed by us last night? I tried to see it, but sadly here in minneapolis it was complately overcast all night.

Does anyone have any good pics?

Well its a somewhat clear night in the midwest and no meteors, no fireballs, not much of anything. Seems 5 millions miles is too far to see anything.

No reports of meteor showers or anything like that.

No gloom and no doom.

Still have a couple weeks to go yet but I don't see anything happening.

Astronomers expect a meteor shower late next week as the comet continues to crumble.

Didn't think you were dis'n, just showing other perspectives and what others are saying, like I said I don't know what to make of it. I have my doubts but there are alot of people taking it seriously. Either or we will see what happens.

Wow fragment S isn't list on the NEO close approach table but I found its orbit simulation link. Seems to make its closet approach by May 29th, strange.
It crosses the the earths elliptic path dead on. But I cannot find any information about it

Just wondering why it is lagging so far behind the other fragments.

No, it was meters... And 1.1 LD is far away. We've had stuff that's larger come even closer before. Nothing to worry about.

1.1 LD is far away? Isnt that the distance of the moon? Doesnt that mean it will be as close to us as the moon?

Slightly farther away than the Moon, but close... And like I said, we routinely get stuff coming within half the distance of the Moon that's about that same size. Maybe once every couple of months. Really, at that distance it's nothing to worry about at all.

What would you consider a threat cmmdr? All this stuff comes up and we all freak out, just for future reference, what is too close, and too big for you? That way, I wont freak out over this little 330 meter, 1.1LD stuff anymore.
