The Torture Chamber: Guantanamo Bay

RICHARD BOURKE: They are torturing people. They are torturing people on Guantanamo Bay. They are subjecting them to cruel and unnecessary treatment. And people sometimes argue about the definition of torture. What they're doing clearly comes within the definition of torture under the convention, under the international convention, but it also�they are engaging in acts which amount to torture in the medieval sense of the phrase. They are engaging in good old-fashioned torture, as people would have understood it in the Dark Ages.

The medieval definition of torture???? As in the Dark Ages????? This country is headed for an ethical trainwreck, people! The things that are done by this evil adminstration is a MORAL OUTRAGE! What are we doing to those people???

I have seen medieval torture implements, they make todays methods seem laughable in comparison.

What caught my eye in this story was the following 'crue and unnecessary' so which is it cruel or unnecessary?

I guess when it can be either then all of this is bad right?

Oh it will Colonel. No one is safe. You're right. It is outrageous. The administration has got to either charge the detainees with something or let them go, to have a shred of credibility.

I believe the US personnel who were recently arrested from GITMO for "spying" were probably relaying information to the UN or Amnesty International. Charging them or accusing them of spying is the only way to shut them up. Classic BushCo.

Really torture doenst have to be fysical..

They use this method there..

They deny 'suspects' of all 'senses'..
(Hear, feel, smell, see, taste anything..)

Makes one permantly insane very quickly if one doenst 'break' and tell..



This is at least one thing they do there..

theneo, try the sleep position for awhile. (A favorite tactic of friendly Drill Sgt.'s)

Here's how:
1. Stand on your tip toes
2. Extend your arms straight out
3. bend your knees

Now stay in that position until I get tired of looking at you.
You will quickly find this to be a "non dangerous" method of torture. There are a million other painful and maddening ways without physically damaging a person.
