There have been a lot of Stephen King's books that have been turned into movies. I heard that there have been over fifty of them. I have seen some of them. My favorite ones have to probably be "The Shinning", "The Green Mile", "Misery", and "Carrie". I didn't like "Graveyard Shift" that much though. What do you think? What are your favorite Stephen King books that have been turned into movies?

The Green Mile was a pretty good movie, but it's pretty hard to beat Misery. I don't think you mentioned Pet Cemetary or Needful things. They are not on the same scale as the previous two I mentioned, but not too bad.

I have not seen "Needful Things" but I have seen "Pet Cemetary" and it is a good movie. I also thought the movie "Cujo" was good.

It's hard to beat Misery. Kathy Bates should have gotten an Oscar for that role.

The TV movie It was pretty good with that demented clown.

Peace

edit: Strike that, she did win the Oscar. My bad!

I liked the movies "Thinner" and "Christine". How about the movies "The Shawshank Redemtion" or "Salem's Lot"?

Oh man I forgot about Salem's Lot!

That part with the vampire kid floating at the window kept me up for weeks.

Peace

I haven't seen all (or even most of them), but I really liked Carrie. IT was good too.

Wasn't "The Running Man" based on a Stephen King book?

I just checked and "Running Man" was based on a Stephen King book. The book "Heart Of Atlantis" by Stephen King was also turned into a movie. The Movie "Riding The Bullet" was based on a short story by Stephen King and which I thought it was a good movie.
As were the movies "Insomnia" and the movie "Dreamcatcher".

TO be frank most of the King adaptations have been pretty bad.

The best hand down IMHO is 'The Shinning". Good cast, the cinamaphotgraphy was spot on, the use of music....... Still send chills down my spine

The TV adaptation of the "The Stand" gets my second spot and Misery the third.

The RUnning Man was based on a King novella published under the pseudonym Richard Bachman.

To see the effect music has on a movie watch this "differnt" shining trailer

and who can forget the Simpsons parody
