I was watching Gaurd tonight between 10 and 11pm Sue Thomas FBI. It is on Sky Angel, but might also be offered on other TV networks.

I saw a commerical. It started out with a tooth-pick, skinny woman being escorted to her car in a parked garage. Then she hit the lock door button to make sure all the doors are locked. She was parked and stayed inside of the car as a group of male young adults walk by. After they leave she gets out, and they show her with her keys in between her fingers to use as a weapon if necessary. She gets to apartment safely, and locks one of those scrawny chain locks that couldn't really stop anything. Now she gets a piece of cholocate cake, and sits down to watch TV. As she is watching and eating her cake, she lights up a cigg.

Here is the scary part, a screen flashes up with a bunch of info. At the top read Now, who is going to protect yourself from you?
Then it goes on about makng healthy choices, diet, and execrise. I caught sight of a website, but can't remember what it said. I didn't read it quick enough.

What really got to me was the fact that they were saying that no one can make correct choices in their lifestyle, so there fore come to our website and we will ..... whatever service they do. This is so much the mantallity of the new world order and big brother, and it is scary to see that type of mentality start to appear on a health commerical. I think it may be more of a clinical site leading to some doctors who supposedly have all the answers for you. It listed a broad range of health issues and did not center around just one or two. I now wonder just how pervalent this attitude is in the health industry.

Ok folks, we know we can't trust you to make any right decisions, so therefore we have to take away your freedoms and make them for you. I don't care if you are skinny and very healthy, you can't eat that cake since it may make you fat later on. No you can't smoke, since it is bad for you. I don't care about people in your who family smoked all of their lives and lived into their 80's. It is going to kill you period even if you don't smoke that often.

I really wish I caught that website, if I do see it again I'll post it. I have been watching for that commercial since I first saw it. As things go when you want to see a particular commerical, forget it.

That commercial has been running for 6 months or so, I had the same reaction you had. The website was for a government web site, next time I see it I will post it also.

Thats the liberals for you, they think we need the government to tell us when to breath.

Are we pretending that conservatives don't have their own list of do's and donts for society? It aint just the so called liberals in government running around making it a crime to smoke in public--doubling the tax on cigarettes creating a prohibition. Its a crime to marry who you love, a crime to make the appropriate medical decision about your own body. It aint just the liberals going after guns either because if it was why hasn't the Republican run congress and executive rolled back some of the damage they claim Clinton made? Ask yourself these questions, then research who votes where and for what. It wasn't a liberal that ordered the national guard in New Orleans to disarm the citizens. It was so called liberals and republicans that put the cameras on your stoplights and it was so called liberals and conservatives that just voted to renew the patriot act. Lip service is all you are going to get from either side. And, if that's enough for you cause you have a demon, these so called liberals that haven't had any power for five years, then do what you do. Sleep well, I did under Clinton.

woo...that's not directed at you bpletcj...at least not completely. lately I rant for rant's sake. oh true.

I posted a similar reply to another topic.
I personally think it's discusting, how they're trying to tell me I can't have a smoke when I go out for a beer now, and it doesn't matter a damn what establishment I go to, it's gonna be illegal for me to light one up. I'm forever seeing adverts saying how "-this product- Has no added salt"... Dammit, I want a bit of salt on my fries, how long till I can't do that? Oh yeh, and I heard something about kids in school are not gonna be allowed to take a soda with them for lunch... please, give the poor sods a break.
However did we survive this long without being told what we should and shouldn't do?
I'm personally determined to do what the hell I please with my body. I'm covered with piercings and I will drink what I want, where I want, I WILL smoke as much or as little as I so please, despite what's legal and what's not, I'm not gonna live out the rest of my life giving in to a nanny state that's so far out of contact with real life that it wouldnn't know it, if it came and bit it on the ass.

I for one want to smack the stars out of morons who say BUSH is a conservative!

He Is A Fiscal LIBERAL With Spastic Tendencies towards theological excessiveness

Back in JFK's day Bush would have been extremely LIBERAL (not even Democrat!)

DOES ANYONE REMEMBER:
Ask Not What Your Country Can Do For You - But What YOU CAN DO For Your Country?

THAT was from a Democrat!

People I know that were born in a commie country say that

THIS GOVERNMENT is MORE in your face than their communist government was back then . . .

Are YOU Americans proud of that?

Wake Up AMERICA - We Are Worse Off Than The Darn Commies Were 30 years ago!

We Are Living The Commie Conspiracy of 30 years ago - what are YOU gonna do about it besides sit there and pick your nose?

yeh I wouldn't go as far as to say it's part of any grand NWO scheme, doesn't mean it's well out of order anyway, I mean why should we have people telling us we should do this and shouldn't do that?
It is eventually leading to less and less freedom.
Once you convince people "yes, I must be like this", it's easier to MAKE them do it.

bpletcj, I hardly watch TV anymore. That is why I haven't seen it until now. I just happened to induldge and watch Sue Thomas.

With that message coming from the government has some serious devious overtones more so than what I originally thought.

ShadowdragonAP45 I have to disagree. This is one small step into conditioning people to start to think that they can't take care of themselves, and do what is best for themselves.

It starts with one small simple commerical. Then it will start to creep into other areas such as our school systems. The next thing we know our kids will start to think that no one even themselves can do anything without the government. We need the government to micromanage our lives.

It is a form of conditioning to get the message out there so many times that after awhile it will no longer be a shock to see. We will be numb to it after awhile. Also it might reinforce some of their mind control slaves into their agenda.

DreadNaught the whole point to the NWO is to take all freedoms away from us so we are 100% dependant on them. Then they can turn us into slaves, take away our property and possessions, and what ever else they want to do to us. Remember another thing they want to do is to decrease the world's population. If they have us brainwashed that they know what is best for us, then they could dictate who can and can not have children. Who has to get sterlized. How many children people can have. Who needs to die to make our world more sustainable.

I also agree with you on your rant on smoking and the salt. I can see companies putting no salt products out if there is enough of the population who wants that type of product, or if they have a medical condition where they can't consume salt or very little. Other than that, they better not start telling us we can't have anything salty. Most women during a particular time of month crave salt. I know I do, and I'm a total bear and miserable unless I get it. Give me a can of pringles or a good bag of wavy lays, and I'll be happy.

GameSetMatch Splenda - now you are going to get me started. After the last time I took my kids to the dentist, I decided to get them something better to drink than pop, tea, and such. I thought flavored water would be better than fruit juices. We bought the water, and it didn't taste too bad. Except it left my mouth dry. I kept thinking why. I also had to buy Pepto during that time.

Then my husband came home and told me that it had Splenda in it, and he heard it could cause cancer. I went and looked up Splenda on the net. All the symptoms that I have been feeling were right there in the side effects. It was suppose to be the end all be all subsutite to sugar, but the FDA passed it based of a couple of short term studies. There were no long term studies done.

I'm like well, we will drink what we have. After that I rather go back to drinking Pespi. I gave up Pespi, and practically made my family do so to be more healthy just to find out that what I'm currently drinking is worse for me. I hate to say this, but with all the crap they put in our foods and all the genetically modified foods, there are no safe foods any longer. It really doesn't matter what you eat, just make sure you are taking some good suppliments though to get all the vitimanes you need.

I'm going to do my best to stay away from anything that has sweetners and splenda. On the site that told me about splenda and sweetners it said that many of the diet foods and diet drinks have artifical sweetners instead of natural God given sugar. No diet foods for me.

Don't get too close to the political abyss, folks. We know that this is ATS and not PTS.

To make sure that we do not forget, those who control the political groups of both conservatism and liberalism are part of the same same body that controls us: the NWO folks.

I haven't seen this commercial, but I have the same reaction to it as you do by your description. In so many areas these days, it seem to me that we're not given the credit to know how to take care of ourselves, our children, our money, our lives!

What I hate about it is the idea of being in everyone else's business! If we would all take care of ourselves instead of telling everyone else how to be... Yeah, I get pretty bothered by this attitude, too!

Well, to me the main message of the commercial I figured is that if you are so paranoid about getting from your car to your apartment, then when you are there you slowly kill yourself anyway by smoking, being a couch potato etc.
Why be paranoid about them, when you are your own killer.

But I agree, it definately has tones of helpless victimisation, with a need to be saved and lifted up with a promise of hope.
Crime is going down, but ask the man on the street and he will say differently.

And about artificial sweeteners, it really chaps my hide that I must now read the ingredient label of everything I intent to eat, to make sure its not made with artificial sweeteners.

There was a time when real sugar was the bad guy and the main one, at least a bad guy that I know

It may be ironic, but the main point of the commerical was that we can not take care of ourselves. Therefore we need someone else to restrict our freedoms in what we can and can not do. Based on the commerical, how far do you think these people would like to take it? As someone else pointed out, it also extends to procranation, or being a couch potato.

The government already put many restrictions on where we can smoke, and have tried to restrict us as to how much we can smoke by increasing the taxes added to ciggeretts. Now there have been rumors milling around about not letting people smoke in their own cars especially if there are small kids inside. What's next, not able to smoke when you step outside? That would definitly go way too far.

We know smoking isn't the best thing for you, but eating? Granted there are healthy foods and not so healthy foods. Not eating right is tied into obesity. Why make that suggestion with a woman who actually looks underweight? Because the government classifies most everyone as obese.

According to consumer freedom, the government even considers Mel Gibson 5'9": 214 pounds: 32 and Arnold Schwarzenegger: 6'2": 257 lbs: 33 to be obese. Heck even all the Steelers, Go Steelers, who just won the superbowl to be obese.

www.consumerfreedom.com...

Do you really want to be regulated on what you can and can not eat. Oh, your obese according to the government, so there for you are restricted to only soy and vegetables. Your child is considered obese, so there fore we have to take your child from you and place them with someone who can feed your child correctly.

If you are lucky enough to be considered government approved weight, then you might be able to have a piece of cholocate cake once a month. Well, make that once every three months. Sorry no icecream or lemonaide on a nice hot sunny day.

Why not take it a step further. You don't execrise enough, so the government has to put in place an enforced government execrise plan. Sorry, you can't sit down at the end of a hard work day and collapse in front of the TV, or the chair and log on the net. Nope, you need to do government assigned execrise program.

In some highschools, I'm not sure if just in a few or all of them, there has been a voulenteer requirement in order to get your diploma. Where is that going? On your day off, that nice hot sunny day, you might as well as forget having any fun in the sun. You have to do your government ordered and assigned voulenteer assignment. Who knows the government may just make this longer than a regular work day.

The commerical is scary, because it talks about taking away and/or regulating our basic freedoms. Once that is done, we effectively have become slaves to the government. You will no longer have a choice. Heck, I'm already forced to drink water with cholorine and fluride, both are poisions when consumed. Granted not enough to kill you, but enough to wear down the body over time. In that case, I might as well drink Pespi instead of water.

If you still do not see where I'm coming from, then maybe you should read George Orwell's 1984. There are way too many in government who have that type of mindset.

What I basically meant by "yeh I wouldn't go as far as to say it's part of any grand NWO scheme", is that, maybe it's just a government trying to freak people out, so as they live more "cost effective" lifes, I.E, lifestyles that are less likely to lead to heart disease etc etc. Which of course is a good idea reeeeeally.... But then it comes back to the simple thing of "Don't tell me what to do".
Can't be done, we can consume what ever the hell we like as much as we like and when we like, and there should be nobody telling us other wise.
Be like me saying to you, "hey, put that damn apple down, Cause I don't like 'em"..... leave off mate, I'll put what I damn well please in MY body and you can just deal with it.
