If the Brits didn't call it Tanks. Would Landships be accepted as a good name?

We know that during WW1 that the British were keep the then new secret weapon and call it tanks as a deception. It should have been called landship, because many of the features are similar to real ships are, like turrets, periscopes, etc. So I was wondering if the name landship would have stick to us, instead of the word tank.

Probably, they would have earned a typical military-type name such as Heavily Armored, Highly Mobile, Tracked, Direct-Fire, Anti-Fortification Vehicle or HAHMTDFAFV, for short.

Tanks were also called Barrels. I think tanks is better.
