March 13, 2006 - LG/Phillips unveiled the largest LCD display in the world in South Korea last week. The panel is a 100 inch TFT-LCD, which dramatically surpasses the previous record, an 82 inch panel manufactured by Samsung that was shown at CES.

The panel was manufactured at LG's seventh-generation production line at Paju, South Korea. The panel contains 6.22 million pixels and boasts a response time lower than 5ms. Contrast ration is listed as 3000:1, and LG says the panel has a 180 degree viewing angle.

The LCD size battle between LG and Samsung began in 2002 when LG showed a 52 inch panel. LG's 100 inch LCD is just three inches short of the largest display panel in the world, a 103 inch plasma display manufactured by Panasonic.

Man, I wish I could get my hands on it for football or basketball games. Wonder how much it cost.

I wonder how much this thing would cost. Not too long ago when 82inch was the biggest they estimated the price at something crazy like 80k-100k

Meh. Once the technical barriers of EInk technology get removed, then you'll be seeing entire walls get pasted to the walls, like wallpaper. I'm stickin' to the "tube" until they perfect flat display tech.

It`s a pity that lcd is almost worthless for home theater
the lcd projector`s can not desplay black, and the flat panal lcd
tv`s have no shodow detail
Also LCD and DLP and the like offen break down , and can seldom be repaired

I will stick with my 40 inch sony tube set for regular tv watching,
and my Sony G90 CRT projector with 6 foot x 8 foot screen for movies
events and shows i really like
