U.S. District Judge, Leonie Brinkema, halted the sentencing trial of al-Qaida member Zacarias Moussaoui after learning that the government violated rules against the coaching of witnesses.

news.yahoo.com
An angry federal judge unexpectedly recessed the sentencing trial of confessed al-Qaida conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui on Monday to consider whether government violations of her rules against coaching witnesses should remove the death penalty as an option. The stunning development came at the opening of the fifth day of the trial after the government informed the judge and the defense over the weekend that a lawyer for the Federal Aviation Administration had coached four government FAA witnesses in violation of the rule set by U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema.

This smells to high heaven!

Not only did the FAA lawyer violate the judge's rule, but then it was the Government that disclosed the problem??? Something is up... This story just doesn't make sense.
