I'm not an expert in the history of all asian societies or anything, but Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Cofucianism, Hinduism, Buddhism and Zoroastrianism, what is the one thing they all have in common. Well it seems they all come from Asia. It is true that these are not the only religions in the world, but in terms of following they pretty much dominate. Some may argue that some of these ideas came from africa, but these ideas as we understand them, along with their labels are asian.

I was reading this christian website one time on the issue of gog and magog actually being east and west. And it was talking about a split between the two forces and how a war broke out in ancient times and those who would eventually become westerners lost and then eventually moved west, and how the east would eventually win again in the future. The writer felt that Asia or the east was collectivist and the europe or the west was individualistic and this is what the war was fought over.

Indeed many of the strong communist countries which still exist today are asian. Communism is also collectivist. Asia is indeed important to history. Supposedly the beginning of civilization asia has seemingly always had powerful civilizations, even during european dominance at it's height there was japan. It's been home to continous chinese and persian empires, and it's the hughest and most diverse continent.

Question is, is Asia(the East) really collectivist? Is Europe(the West) really individualistic? And if so which is better? Collectivism can often be associated with lack of freedom, while individualism can be associated with decadendence, so which is better? Or is any better?Do you mix the two? If your against collectivism then why is it so popular even to non-easterns? Or is it not an east-west issue it just depends on the society you come from in general?
