Here's a very annoying bug that I encounter from time to time. I make a post, either through New Thread or Reply.

I type in some text, maybe even several paragraphs of text.
I want to insert a link, so I click on the big blue globe.
I answer the two prompts to create the hyperlink..

Poof! All the text I have typed in has disappeared, and the hyperlink appears as the first and only line of the post.

I've learned to get around this bug by doing a Preview Post before I create the hyperlink. That way, all I have to do is C&P the disappearing text from that box.

It's probably not worth spending a lot of time debugging, but maybe it can be put on the to do list for the next release..

That's why I don't bother with the link button.
I just type it out manually.

It's not hard once you learn the BB Code.

[ url= (paste link) ] (describe link) [/url]

Just skip the space after the frst bracket.

There are some examples here:
en.wikipedia.org...

I've also noticed similar things occuring. When I write a reply, then have to go back and insert hyperlink, or image(using the buttons), it would erase part, or all of what was previously there.

So, then I would have to go back and start all over.

btw, should'nt this have gone in 'suggestions', or in a u2u to a mod, or admin?

larry

It's an old problem. If the text disappears just back out of the screen. Your text will return because you didn't hit Post Reply. Ace of Base has the best response, but jsobecky's workaround and others, like making the link, copying it, hitting undo and then inserting it, work for those who don't like to do all that extra typing. I'm a mouser myself, but typing the link code gets easier the more I do it.
