UFO catched on webcam today (09-03-06)?

Hi!

I have watched some webcams all over the world today.
On the webcam

i have seen a glowing sphere on the webcam at 04:25:07 am. This was the only frame where the object was visible. The webcam updates every 15mins and it was to fast for the moon i think. I have looked for the moons
position at this time and it should not be visible on this camera. The moon was visible over Asia at 04:25:07 i think.

The camera looks to the south of Alta in Utah.

There was a second frame at 03:55:06 where the object was looks transparent at the same height as the other frame, then it dissapears until the frame at 04:25:07 am.

Watch the last 2 hour animation an you can see it.

If anyone can tell me how to insert a picture in a posting, i will upload it.

Here is the information for the Moon as seen from Salt Lake City , Utah.

You'll notice that the Moon does set in the general direction of the South at 4:28 am as seen from Salt Lake City , Utah and I , imagine that the web cam does not point directly South.

Ok, but the moons phase is too low to fit the roundness of the object seen
in the camera.

I know that webcams show sometimes false colors , but why is
the sphere orange-white?

Because it is very low on the Horizon as seen from the web cam picture. As the light from the Moon must pass through more atmosphere and dust from that angle it appears more orange in color ( the gases in the atmosphere effect the diffraction of light , more gases mean more diffraction ). You can notice this yourself when the Moon rises or sets.

Notice that your eye's also see the moon as being larger when you watch the Moon rise and set , but in photographs the moon always appears the same size.


Also the phase of the Moon is at 76% as seen from SLC , Utah. Because the Moon is a round object and the webcam is not properly focused on it it still appears round on the webcam shot.

...and yet it appears to be BEHIND the trees, illuminating the snow...



However, I'm convinced it's not a UFO. What else could it be?...I'll post the answer later.

I was convinced last night that it was the setting moon! I didn't have a day shot last night to look at however.

Anyway thanks for the correction.
