President Carter personally called Secretary of State Rice to try to convince her to reverse her U.N. ambassador's position on changes to the U.N. Carter needs to be in jail, and lose his pention, secret service escort

? For what? Becuase he talked to rice about the human rights commision?

Mr. Carter said he made a personal promise to ambassadors from Egypt, Pakistan, and Cuba on the U.N. change issue that was undermined by America's ambassador, John Bolton. "My hope is that when the vote is taken," he told the Council on Foreign Relations, "the other members will outvote the United States."

This isn't treason. Its called lobbying.

Carter is the definition of TREASON, he was a mole for the Iranian mullah's. He set in motion the Nuclear attack coming soon from Iran.

Put him on trial.............

We have someone here attacking Jimmy Carter who has done wonders for man kind and there is no doubt at all that this person who is condeming Carter has done little if anything for the same population. How wonderful is must be to judge someone when you have less knowledge of the world and only a larger mouth.

another american labeled a traitor simply because he's outspoken about his differences with the current administration......wonder if his calls are monitored as well??

so, I guess some of us feel that the US should "dominate" the policies of the UN? if only the vote of one, the US, should matter, why have a UN at all? let's just dominate the whole world, they can all quack like the little ducks we want them to be?

the last two posts are true, people attacking others only because they voice their opinion then want to have them up for treason which would condemn you to death by hanging. Great nation, voice your opionion then get hanged, because people didnt like what you said even though you had the right to say it, which would happen right now if the bu#es had 100% control, thank goodness they only have 90% right now, or else Jimmy would be swinging from a tree and I have no grudge against him yet.

Like all Americans, Jimmy Carter has the right to speak his mind. That doesn't mean the Republicans in office are going to pay attention to him. I mean, this really hasn't even made the news so its not like anyone else is listening to him either.

Jimmy Carter is a good man that had absolutely no business being president of the U.S. I lived thru the Carter years and when he lost to Ronald Reagan it wasn't because everyone in the country was voting for Reagan, everyone in the country was voting against Jimmy Carter.

He's done many good things since leaving office and should be saluted for it. And whether we like it or not, he has the right to say any darn thing he feels like saying.

Just my thoughts,

Wupy

Mr. Carter has the right to say whatever he wants. However, he does not have the authority to make deals or give assurances in the name of the US gov't. Which is exactly what he did:

www.nysun.com...

The story, as Mr. Carter recalled, began with a recent dinner for 17 he attended in New York, where the guests included the president of the U.N. General Assembly, Jan Eliasson; an unidentified American representative, and other U.N. ambassadors from "powerful" countries at Turtle Bay, of which he mentioned only three: Cuba, Egypt, and Pakistan. The topic was the ongoing negotiations on an attempt to replace the widely discredited Geneva-based Human Rights Commission with a more accountable Human Rights Council.

"One of the things I assured them of was that the United States was not going to dominate all the other nations of the world in the Human Rights Council," Mr. Carter said. However, on the next day, Mr. Carter said, Mr. Bolton publicly "demanded" that the five permanent members of the Security Council will have permanent seats on the new council as well, "which subverted exactly what I have promised them," Mr. Carter said.

Emphasis added.

He alleges that Bolton backstabbed him. Jimmy, Jimmy, Bolton owes you nothing. Nada.

As someone here stated, Carter is a good man who had no business being POTUS. He's done much good through Habitat for Humanity, etc.

He is trying to influence the unwritten history books as to his effectiveness as POTUS. He'll succeed if he sticks with building houses, imo.

Ahh NO carter can't "say whatever he wants" he is an X-prez with knowledge of many secrets. Based on his recent conduct I fear for his "mouth" in terrorist hands.

Don't forget he leaked the existence of the F-117 in an open press conference.

He is a danger to the country and needs to be put away. He is helping communist tyrants to come to power "Chavez" for example. His history proves him to be ..............well.........a communist............

He above all belongs in Abu grab or Gitmo..............based on this story alone. I would love to "escort" him personally.........

Hey bubba, or redneck, your talking to a socialist/communist. Keep YOUR mouth shut on political parites unless you know what they are, go google: CPUSA to find out what a communist is, or read karl marx. Stalin was NOT a communist, Chazen is NOT a communist, Fidel is NOT a communist, Mao was NOT a communist, NK is NOT a communist country. Why? Because NONE fit the description of a communist, hence go read karl marx not what the US govt. has been touting about them for the past 50 years or so.
Just because your an american communist does not meen your better. An american communist is NOT better than anyone else who is a communist.

Well, yes he's not suppose to release top secret info., but really consider how long ago he was the president, what could he possibly know thats dangerous to the citizens of the world.

Don't forget he leaked the existence of the F-117 in an open press conference.

EDIT:
Just to add, I agree with Vekar, I did'nt see his/her last post about communism when I was making my post.
So what, we have the right to know where are tax dollars are going, and what's flying in our skys.

He is a danger to the country and needs to be put away. He is helping communist tyrants to come to power "Chavez" for example. His history proves him to be ..............well.........a communist............

The Cold Wars been over for more than a decade...

There is no communist country in the world, there never has been, and there are no communist dictators.

Chavez, like myself is a Socialist, there is nothing wrong with socilaism, it's much better that capitalism.

He above all belongs in Abu grab or Gitmo..............

No he doe'nt, and also those places should be shut down.

based on this story alone. I would love to "escort" him personally.........

Yes, and if you did, it would be people like me who would have you locked up faster than you can say "Idiocentric redneck Republican".

Carter is doing what his masters (the UN globalists) want him to do... pulling his chain so that he does their bidding. Soon the globalists will be requiring their slaves to step up and do what is needed to bring the NWO to power. They must pay back all that they have been given by the consortium of globalists.

The UN is mired in so much scandal that how can anybody take it seriously these days.

thermopolis, whatever you say, buddy.

Carter is our problem--- OK

What bush is talking about now (being "addicted" to petrol) is something that Carter spoke about 27 years ago...

Not to be a spelling Nazi, but I fould this a bit ridiculous:

when does a past prez become a "traitor"? Carter needs to be in jail, and lose his pention, secret service escort...................

That wasn't a leak, it was the act of a desperate man trying to get re-elected to the office of the presidency. I remember the news conference and the reaction to those around me when it happened. Everyone agreed it was a political move designed to get him re-elected. Basicly, the info was on the way out there anyway and he tried to use it as a tool to shore up his 12% approval rating.

It was politics, not treason.

Wow.....that's pretty "arrogant" finger pointing. Please tell me how "saint" jimmy has done anything to better mankind. The current evil in the world has its beginnings at "jimmy's" doorstep. From the lack of human intell to the rise of radical Islam in Iran. How about the energy crisis that could have been averted if "saint jimmy" hadn't shut down Nuclear power generation.

The man is a menace...................

False.

Bogus.

Put him on trial.............

We will not put those who are unpopular and disagree with the government.

Ahh NO carter can't "say whatever he wants"

Yes, he can. The Constitution ensures that, despite whatever you may want to do.

The man is a menace...................

Locking people up and executing them for treason for disagreeing with the government is what makes one a menace.

Thermopolis, the real question here is "When does a current president become guilty of treason for betraying his country's most sacred principles?

America, for much of its history, has been a beacon to the world, not because of its military might, but because of its liberty, equality and we influenced by example.

Today, we have become the country of secret prisons, torture of prisoners, "rendition", pre-emptive wars. Instead of being the country that all others wanted to be like, we have become the focus of much of the world's hatred. We will never regain our position of leadership in the world by destroying our enemies, but by being a living example of the great ideals that the Founding Fathers used when creating our Constitution.

George W. Bush has referred to the US Constitution as a "Goddamn piece of paper". He has stated that our laws do not apply to him. He has negated the constitutionally mandated power of Congress to place checks and balances on him. Basically, he seeks to destroy the very principles that have made this country great.

Jimmy Carter remains the most decent man to have held the office of President in our lifetime. At an age when most men would retire and relax, he has continued to fight for what's right, as an advocate for human rights, both here and abroad, and as a living example of the great beliefs that this country is founded upon.

Thermopolis, it must be difficult when you wake up and realize that the president you have been supporting is a fascist and would-be dictator. That his greed and corruption have brought him to the point where he'd sell the operating rights to American ports to rich friends in a country that is a state sponsor of terrorism.

Most Americans lives are measurably worse today than they were 6 years ago, before George Bush took office. Back then, fewer than 20 percent of Americans supported the impeachment of the sitting president because he lied about a sexual affair, yet he was impeached. Today, we have a president who has behaved in a way that, as the Senator from Wisconsin put it yesterday is "in the strike zone of high crimes and misdemeanors". We live today with a traitor in the White House. Your attempts to smear a man like Jimmy Carter, who embodies the very best of America, will not change the fact that the current president is the very antithesis of all American values.

By the way, if you Google "Goddamn piece of paper" you will find some very good articles about President Bush's view of American values as delineated in our Constitution.

Thank God for a few courageous people like Senator Feingold and President Jimmy Carter, who understand that until we show the world that we value the rule of law, by bringing the criminal who currently resides in the White House to justice, we will never regain our status as Leader of the Free World. It is our choice to make: Will we struggle to maintain control of the world through military force, negating our belief in Liberty and Equality, or will live up to the great ideal that the great men who wrote our Constitution envisioned?

What a shame that small men today, like our sitting president and his boss, Dick Cheney, can trample on the legacy of great men like Jefferson, Madison, Franklin, etc.

Execution would be too good for Carter. He should be blindfolded, tortured and kept in a small cell full of his own extrement for the remainder of his life, in a manner not inconsistant with the way the Iranian hostages were kept while Carter did nothing but sit on his butt.

Funny how former democrats president ( Clinton, Carter... ) have always to stand for the UN and not for their own coutry. Also, both of them have lost the face in their fight vs their Republican counter-part. And last but not least both have almost sold out their nation to her worst ennemies ( Carter with the Soviet and Clinton with the Soviet & the chicoms ).

I guess you won't see the smoking gun, right ?
