CNN has posted a video on the above topic in their world video section. Attempted to make a link, but it's java. It's on www.cnn.com... in the world section, titled "Plot Against Pope." The clip is about 3 minutes long and suggests that it has been "confirmed" that the Soviet Union pulled the strings on the Pope John Paul II assasination attempt. Thoughts? Do you (other readers) feel this gives true confirmation? After all, the whole case sounds like it's based off of a single picture.... not much evidence to build a case from....... Guess we'll have to wait for the comissions findings to be released.

P.S. Not sure if this is the right location for this thread.... mods feel free to delete or move this.

whoops.... didn't notice this.... www.abovetopsecret.com...
can the mods combine these threads?

Strange... Then if the Soviet administration was crazy enough to try assassinating a pope, the Bush administration could as well have plotted fake suicide of Hunter S. Thompson.

I agree Echtelion, the Hunter S. Thompson suicide/murder needs to be investigated further. There is too much conflicting information in the various press releases regarding his death to draw any proper conclusions.

Hey didn't Fatima's third Prophecy have something to do with Pope John Paul II assasination attempt? I wonder if there was something more to this now that the Soviet Union was behind it?

More like if they were crazy enough to assassinate the Pope, they'd be crazy enough to assassinate JFK. Pope has far more followers than the President of the USA.

Just give this some serious thought for a moment. Anyone who has even made a cursory study of the Soviet Union prior to its fall would be very suspicious of this story. Here is the main reason why.

At the time of the Second Vatican Council in the 1960's and JPII's election as Pope - the only people who got exist visas from communist block contries were communists! THINK ABOUT IT!

Catholic Clergy that remained Catholic and opposed communism were locked up in prisons or murdered - BY THE THOUSANDS! Not unlike the reign of Henry VIII.

The only way that Wojotya (alias - John Paul II) could have gotten out of Poland to attend the Vatican II apostate Council is if he was a communist dupe or agent. He, along with Ratzinger were among the biggest modernist liberals at the Council.

Do you really think that the Soviet Union would have allowed him to leave Poland to be elected Pope if he was not one of their own? If you do think this - how do you explain the hundreds, if not thousands of Catholic Bishops and Clergy that were murdered or imprissoned in the Soviet Union and Soviet Block nations?

Think about it.
