Reide's lawyer, James Ruddock, asked Justice Norman Douglas to give his client probation on the condition that he wouldn't enter the specified Tim Hortons location again.
"Is there more than one Tim Hortons in Fergus?" Douglas asked the court before rendering his decision.
A courtroom police officer aided the judge, saying that indeed there was a second Tim Hortons in the town.
"I would have thought it was almost un-Canadian to prohibit someone from going to Tim Hortons," Douglas said before suspending Reide's sentence.
