I'm sure most of you have seen both the SR-71 and Area 51 on the History Channel. I watched the SR-71 documentary recently and I noticed that they lied about where the aircraft was being tested after it was first developed. Because they sure didn't mention Area 51 at all in the entire segment.

I find it interesting that they discuss the SR-71 being tested on the Area 51 documentary but not the SR-71 documentary. Sometimes it really bugs me when these programs do that. Your thoughts?

This thread may be 20 years old, but the Blackbird tested at Area 51 was the CIA's Archangel-12 (A-12), not the SR-71. The first flight of the SR-71 in December 1964 was from Burbank to Palmdale, and SR-71 operations were mostly carried out from Beale AFB. The A-12 was a single-seat aircraft, while the SR-71 was a two-man aircraft with greater weight and provisions for not just cameras but also side looking radars and ELINT equipment.
