It Makes Me Wonder (a poem)

Who takes note
Of the lonely tear?
The heart that cries out
In pain and fear

What stranger would stop
Go out of his way
To comfort a lost child
What more could he say?

Each in our own
Sadness we steep
Alone in our sorrow
To ourselves we keep

The burdens we bear
We stagger under
So needless our toil
It makes me wonder
