...These cataclysms destroyed and sank the ancient continents, and the civilizations that inhabited them, the most famous being Atlantis and Lemuria...
After these cataclysms, the surviving remnants either went to the inner Earth, or off world. But, a small clique decided to stay and try to reforge the great civilization they once had. But, having lost all their advanced technology and knowledge in the cataclsysm, they were left virtually defenseless against the elements, and it appeared that the surviving humans would not survive.
Then, the Annunaki came down, offered us technology and knowledge on the grounds that we worship them as gods, and give sacrifices to them, and such and such. They really did appear as gods before the "naked" survivors (naked meaning a state of intellectual, and spiritual nakedness, it has nothing to do with physical nakedness), furthermore the Annunaki decieved the remnants into believing that they, the Annunaki, were the creators of physicality (an absurd asumption). They guided the old civilizations of Egypt, Sumer, and most of the civilizations we are told existed at that time (there are many more we are not told about). They mated with the "daughters of men", their offspring took over positions of power on the globe (the Illuminati / Royal Bloodlines), and the rest is history.
April 4, 2007—Were ancient Egyptian cities leveled by the massive volcanic eruption that may have inspired the legend of Atlantis?
The new find seems to confirm accounts from ancient artwork and documents that recount the destruction of coastal cities in Egypt and Palestine during the 15th dynasty (1650-1550 B.C.), when foreigners known as the Hyksos ruled Egypt.
A massive tsunami smashed Mediterranean shores some 8,000 years ago when a giant chunk of volcano fell into the sea, researchers say.
Waves up to 165 feet (50 meters) high swept the eastern Mediterranean, triggered by a landslide on Mount Etna on the island of Sicily, according to the new study
The Azores is a lively place to be. There is a continuous chain of earthquakes and volcanic activity that has had a great effect on its inhabitants. Many of them have left the islands in horror after witnessing one of these catacylysmic events. But disasters are bound to happen when a volcanic environment is home for thousands of human beings.89
There have been 21 major volcanic eruptions in the past 550 years collectively occurring on the islands of Sao Miguel, Terceira, Pico, Sao Jorge, and Faial
There have been 18 major temblors on the islands in recorded history.99 One such quake took place in 1522 when the entire village of Villa Franca, on Sao Miguel island, having 5,000 residents, and being the center of government, was engulfed within sixty seconds by land mass thrown from a hill behind the village. It caused a tidal wave and other destruction in the adjascent islands. It took a year to dig the village out and to give Christian burials to its 5,000 victims.
