Here is a video clip of the weapons system that I tested while in the Army from 1987-1990. The testing was performed at a number of places; White Sands, Ore Grande Test Range, Alamagordo, Ft. Huachuca, and Ft. Bliss to name a few. So, while it is not new or anything, it was very cutting edge for its time. The bad part is, our system won the government contract but shortly after that there were budget cuts and the whole system was scrapped! Martin Marietta got Canada to buy some and they were deployed there for sure.

And apparently the Canadians have adapted it to a stable remote controlled platform, which is very cool.

Just thought I would share.

ADATS stands for Air Defense Anti Tank System, it was capable of both. The system actually worked great, the only thing that killed it was budget cuts.

The laser can be distorted by water vapor, dust, etc in the air.

We never had any problems like that during testing. We tested it for 3 1/2 years under all types of situations, but never had any problems with the lasers.
