how about an Irish section? cause our members from the Republic Of Ireland are not apart of the Union of Great Britian, so how about their own section?

..just a thought.

Surely Ireland is covered under the european politics section.
It is a member of europe and has the euro, I think there is little enough interest in PTS at the moment as it is...
I hope it will pick up again when elections come along again...

Only a few years to wait.

Can't we have a Scottish section, too? I mean, it's bad enough that I have to argue with myself because I have both blood in me, but to think of an Irish section being created without Scotland having representation....Heaven FORBID!

I think a Canadian section should be higher on the priority list than Ireland.

Discussing The Irish Problem

"I can think of no one objection, that will possibly be raised against this proposal, unless it should be urged, that the number of people will be thereby much lessened in the kingdom. This I freely own, and 'twas indeed one principal design in offering it to the world. I desire the reader will observe, that I calculate my remedy for this one individual Kingdom of Ireland, and for no other that ever was, is, or, I think, ever can be upon Earth." -- Jonathan Swift, A Modest Proposal

Hmmm. Perhaps if certain posts in the Irish Politics forum might be offered in sale to persons of quality and fortune throughout the kingdom...

Stop living in the present, Infinite. Thomas Crowne Wallace will fix that minor discrepancy.
Uh, nope, to tell the truth, I didn't know it, or stop to even think about it.

Irish politics is hum-drum, tensions in the north would be the only interesting topic of discussion to be totally honest, while being Irish I would like to see it I have to agree it wouldnt be much of an addition to PTS as say canadian politics.

Just out of curiosity infinite, what brought on this idea?

Well we have a UK section and i thougth it would be only fair to have a Republic Of Ireland section to complete the British Isles of politics

I would have to agree with dj here. Some good topics could be discussed in this section, and alot of American issues have a great affect on Canada itself. So the Canadian side of things could be discussed here.

I believe the idea of a Canadian forum in PTS was discussed and discarded.
At least, that's what we were told the last time it was brought up (a couple of weeks ago). We just aren't interesting enough.

I think this probably means there won't be an Irish forum either.

I firmly believe it would be a great section and see alot of heated discussions.

Hey....If Ireland, Scotland and Canada can have a section, what about Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia? Oh sure, they are small, but they are new members of NATO and the EU, let's make them feel welcome.

I guess my point is that there are a lot of countries out there. Maybe, someday, every country can have a special forum but until then, I would suppose that we could just make our posts within the PTS forum wherever they might best fit. Nevertheless a Lithuania forum might be interesting.
