Iran plans to supply funding to Hamas.

The offer was announced by senior security official Ali Larijani after a meeting with Hamas politburo chief Khaled Meshaal, state radio reported.

The decision follows moves by the US and Israel to isolate a Hamas-led government with financial penalties.

Everyone who saw this coming raise your hands.

Hmmm, I was under the impression that, as a sovereign country, they are free to decide for themselves what they do with their money.

Isn't that "sovereignty"?

Should they give a rat's tookus what the USA thinks about them funding Hamas? Should you?

Freedom, baby. Taste it.

well everone saw this coming even blind people.

its not really surprising palestine needs money, iran is a supporter of palestinian freedom and is anti-occupation and saw this as a greater oppertunity to show there backing for palestine. this isnt really a support for hamas but support for palestine and its people no matter what type of government they have hamas, plo, secular, islam etc...

Of course the US and Israel is free to do what they want with their money. That's not in question. It's the reprocussions of these actions that get me worried. We've known that most of the Middle East supports Palestine. I think that the US and Israel withdrawing funds from a newly elected government was either very short sighted and without concern for the consequences, or it was specifically planned to get Iran and other Middle Eastern countries to fund Hamas, thereby drawing another line in the sand as it were. This could turn into another "you're either with us or against us" kind of thing.

Intersting,

I always thought there are no Zionists belonging to the Palestinian Autority.

Whom of the PA do you think is a plague?

Who do you think did plan that?

Associated Press: Rice Warns Iran About Funding Hamas Leaders

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice warned Iran and other Middle East powers on Friday not to fund a Palestinian government led by Hamas and questioned whether the militant Islamic group could raise badly needed cash without changing its policies.

In an interview with Arab journalists, Rice delivered a blunt new warning to Iran.

"Iran has its own troubles with the international community and it might want to think twice about enhancing those troubles" by bankrolling Hamas, Rice said.

Also, Canada has withdrawn their support for a HAMAS lead government in the PA:

Reuters: Change stance or lose funding, Canada tells Hamas

Canada will not help fund a new Hamas-led Palestinian government unless the militant group rejects violence and agrees to recognize Israel, Foreign Minister Peter MacKay said on Monday.

He also said Canada was reviewing the C$25 million ($22 million) it gives each year to the Palestinian Authority to fund aid projects.

But the funny thing is Hamas does not at all know whether it is good for them or bad for them if Iran gives them money:

Hamas divided on Iranian role in PA

While Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal said during a meeting in Teheran that "The ayatollah's regime will have a major role in Palestine,"

newly-elected Hamas councilman Ghazi Hamad said in Gaza, "We are not rushing to take money from Iran."

Another Hamas council member from Gaza, Dr. Atef Adwan, said that accepting Iranian money would make "Hamas a tool of [Iranian] policy and this is not good for Hamas."

Hamas expert Shaul Mishaal of Tel Aviv University said Iran cannot foot the bill for the PA. "Hizballah costs them $40-$50m. a month. Here it's $250-$300 million.

Israel does not give any money to the Palestinians.

The money they are holding back belongs to the Palestinians, not Israel.

The action is a violation of th Paris94 agreement.

You mean....every cent Israel , the U.S. Canada and the EU does not give to the Terror group Hamas, will strengthen them more?

So you think Hamas is very glad and absolute thankful to the West now?

A favour that costs no money...

The United States funds Israel to an incredible extent, far more than they fund any Third World country.

Most of the money goes into Israeli defense spending. That they then use to harass, kill, and subordinate the Palestinians.

So now that Iran wants to do the same with the Palestinians it's a bad thing?

US money has been drenched in Palestinian blood, why can't the Iranians fund some murder too?

I find nothing wrong with a sovereign country acting on its own will for her self-interests as it's a normality with a majority of the worlds. The United States has funded numerous death squads and other such onerous incidents for decades, so exactly where do they find themselves the moral precedent to decry the actions of Iran?

The United States is leading to an eventual military strike on Iran by pushing fake broke diplomatic talks with Iran which has not shown any signs of devoloping Nuclear Technology with intent of issuance in harmfull mannerisms; even so, the technology is years away from usage; Iran does not currently have the capabilities.

Dr. Rice's annoying tuatologies serve to drive nails into a coffin; she's utterly muttering whatever nonsense that can be used to further decry Iran in hopes that the international community will increase pressure and be congested by the facticity of Irans dangerous hallmark.

Theater is much more unpredictable..
