China is going to implode economically. It has already started. The peasant farmers will take China down. That's the plan man! Food will keep them in check. That is our weapon. We are just giving them a long rope they will hang themselves with. Communism will fail it always does.

Nuclear weapons are awfully dangerous, but people are resourceful, there would be survivors.

A simple hole in the ground is enough to prevent airborne radiation from nailing you, just a few feet of earth. Water can be effectively filtered through hillsides, and game can be caught and eaten as long as precautions are taken not to use any part of the animal that has absorbed a dangerous amount of radiation.

It's touch and go with farming, but indoor cultivation using clean soil and water should present few problems. We simply don't have enough nukes to pepper the entire country of China, it's too big, too many people. We could target metropolitan and military targets and kill millions, but millions more would survive, largely untouched, in rural areas.

Mountainous regions especially present a physical barrier to radiation. Mongolia might be a popular place after the blast. There's gold in them thar hills, that's for sure.

Anyway, the general in question was apparently off his rocker and out of line. I think he has Pat Robertson status in China. Whenever he opens his mouth, his countrymen probably cringe. Just another self-important ideologue, spewing fecal matter.

You guys sound as if China is willing to nuke the US for no apparent reason... Gimme a break. Do you honestly think that the Chinese government would release nukes towards the United States unless absolutely necessary? (Which the US would probably do the same in such a situation that is absolutely necessary)

What this man says, is HIS opinons and it stated clearly that those situations which he talked about are ONLY SCENERIOS. The Chinese government has in no way endorsed what he said. Don't tell me there arent figures in the U.S. that don't say stuff just like this.

Anyways, China is in no way a threat to the security of this world... Look at the US. They have more nukes than anyone in ths world COMBINED. They have bases in Asia surrounding China with bombers with the ability to bomb any Chinese city within an hour. They have invaded a nation without the consent of the international community... Please, do not talk about China being a "threat" while completely ignoring what the United States has done/can do.

Again, What is it with people thinking that just because the U.S. has more nukes than China, then the U.S. is invincible. If the U.S. does use nukes as you say, China would retalliate with their own nuclear arsenal of roughly 200 nukes. This would obliterate the U.S. as well...

China can't grow enough food to feed its people because China has sprouted Mega Cities and left a great deal of arrable land underpopulated. It certainly isn't wise, but it's what happened. They have the land for millions of sustainable micro-farms, which are the only viable sort after a major nuke exchange.

What about the majority of Chinas population that live in rural undeveloped areas? How are they going to filter the air, water, and food?

I think if you don't know this I shouldn't tell you. Survival of the fittest and all that. Read books.

Id just like to point out that race specific weapon to my knowledge do not exist, but even if they did not only would it be virtually impossible to hit every US military center at once but US military systems are shielded against biological or chemical weapons.

Well, we’ll just have to agree to disagree, I do think that if both countries used their nuclear weapons on one another the realities of their respective populous’ are grim.
But your right, china cant invade the US and the US cant invade china, also as things are now we wont go to war with each other, there's to much to lose, for both sides.

I remember reading in an article written by former US army Col. Ralph Peters, that this speech was brushed off on the outside as the lunatic rantings of a senile old man, but inside the halkls of the Pentagon and amongst our allies it was taken very seriously.
True, unless you can find a way to attack a person with a biological agent that chooses its target based on the proportions of melanin in the skin and your pigmentation, then we're all screwed. First Facism supports the idea of free markets. Free markets allow for greater competition which ensures that only the superior products survive, higher competition means a general raising in the technological standard which in turn raises the value of weaponry beign bartered for military contracts. And a wealthy people will put up with little civil liberties or even a total lack of them. (Rome, Nazi Germany)
Also, China is extremely urgent in its goal to expand its sphere of influence. Like all Fascist states tend to engender, there is a growing movement of Nationalism among the Chinese people. A beleif that they are the chosen ones of Asia and that it is their God given destiny to rule Asia and eventually the world.
China would love for nothing more than for the US to be knocked from its pedestal. BUT FOR NOW we are tolerated as an economic partner because for the moment we are beneficial to the Chinsese economy. But don't think for an instant that the Chinese wouldn't love to reverse the historical trends.
One fo the first steps of the Chinese military is to downsize and streamline. This doesn't mean that so many soldiers are going to go home, rather this means that soldiers who stirred pots and peeled spuds all day are now going to shoulder Norinco's and drive T-95's or fly the new strike fighters co-developed with Israel. (Okay maybe it's a stretch thinking that a potatoe peeler would become a fighter jock)
Also, the war would start out very small. It wouldn;t be a massive bloodletting but rather a strategic jockeying for position, a lethal chess game with the entire pacific region and possibly Central America, Africa and the Middle East beign the playing field.
The next logical step for the Chinese is to modernize, and they're doing that. After that comes a field test. I don't beleive it will be a Taiwan type scenario, rather possible an invasion of Vietnam to control the oil fields off the Nam coast or possibly a "Peacekeeping" mission to the Mid East.
China is no longer Communist, but we have in it's place is something far more deadly, and in the next ten years may be the next global superpower. Trust me, the two major powers will eventually clash...it's just a matter of time.

More China blaming - just like the "Bird flu comes from China" accusation. It's just bs propaganda, all about identifying China as a target.

I took the time to read up on the website with the speech was presented by China,and it was disturbing, to say the least. The fact that they are trying to compare the mistakes of WW2 with the uprise of the Chinese people with the intenention of over throwing the USA, but I can honestly say that before my father passed away, he stated that China and Vietnam would be the countries to watch for a neuclear threats. My Dad was a military man, always up on world events and commotions.

Outside of claims by a Falun Gong-linked news site, that was later picked up by apocalyptic Christian sects, I've found no evidence that he actually made the speech at all. I've suspected it was a hoax since day one... calculated to feed on western fears over China's growing influence. I could write a speech claiming it was a "secret speech" by George Bush proposing a massive genocide in the Middle East, and sadly I'm sure a lot of people would believe it simply because it fit their preconceptions...

exactly.....the UK and France are nuclear powers as well.....i dont know whether or not they would attack china to help the US or not. but you never know

and chinas 250 nukes on top of rockets which probably arent that accurate wouldnt concern the US who had 7,000-8,000 nuclear weapons on top of misiles which are far more accurate.

200 nukes < ~10,000

If the US fired their entire stock of nuclear weapons and each hit their targets with perfect accuracy it still wont kill anywhere near 1.3 billion Chinese. If you do not know where to look for the information that suggests as much i can help with that.

How many would die then if all our nukes were launched and hit with perfect accuracy?



This is all irrelevant anyway. I really can't see two nuclear powers just starting to nuke each other. Fear of retaliation is a powerful thing. Also, the first country to nuke the other would isolate itself. The world would ally itself to the nuked country.

I have a challenge for those that believe this is true.

Find the online survey on sina.com that asks if ppl would shoot women and prisoners of war that the "speech" refers to.

Find that or a record of it and I'll pay attention.

There is no way it could completely disappear.
