Okay when I read this I almost pissed my pants laughing.
America here is your tax dollars at work

Washington Post

Two uniformed men strolled into the main room of the Little Falls library in Bethesda one day last week and demanded the attention of all patrons using the computers. Then they made their announcement: The viewing of Internet pornography was forbidden.

Isn't that the duty of the Librarians to be checking to see if what their patrons are using their computers for ligit purposes? I agree that it is a public place and viewing Porn in a public place is a nono as you do not want weak little minds currupted
But this is just over the fricken top.

It ends on this note.

A police officer arrived. In the end, no one had to step outside except the uniformed men.

Give someone a badge and a uniform and there is a good chance they might just abuse it. I wonder how many other abuses of power is happening all in the name of "Homeland Security"

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think porn falls under the jurisdiction of the Dept. of Homeland Security. Is'nt that the FBI?

And if it did, it would be child porn not regular porn......and who the hell do they think they are busting up in a library like that. It's a local government building, so if someone was surfing porn it would fall under the local police. Unless it was child pron, I think that's a federal offense.

From the article:

They were officers of the security division of Montgomery County's Homeland Security Department, an unarmed force that patrols about 300 county buildings -- but is not responsible for enforcing obscenity laws.

Definately not the smartest ones out there....

Romer said the officers believed they were enforcing the county's sexual harassment policy but "overstepped their authority"

How does someone confuse sexual harassment for surfing porn? Did the kid say something naughty to the monitor?

Hey there baby...that's a nice LCD screen you have there
