This is a little off topic with this thread but, I have often heard Americans state things such as: they are "the most free country in the world", and nowhere else in the world do you have freedom of speech. I disagree. I am just wondering if these statements are made in ignorance, or if this is what it actually taught in the US?

Yes , most people in America don't know about the rest of the world (same goes for the rest of the world to US).

Yes we have problems... even more than some other countries... Are we gonna fix em or complain about them... NO ONE LIKES A WHINER SO FIX THEM!

Dont forget... America is a concept also... A damn good one. One that we as Americans should always try to move our country closer towards instead further from

hence...we have ATS....
and some days... it doesn't seem to help... but there are the good days...

to the good days
hip hip hurray....

Lets trade places!

Where do you live down there?

I live in Toronto and I want out man. I want to go to a country where people actually believe they belong to something.

Can I take you up on that? I'd be glad to trade places. Just make it Montreal instead of Toronto and you've got a deal!

Thanks, for sort of sticking up for me.

You could have just as easily flamed me and said, I fought over seas, blah blah.

I dont have kids so I just see the rest of the problems we had. My aunt was a school teacher for Catholic schools and she was always buying pencils and #.

We have money for schools and everything else. Problem is th teachers are there just to get paid. I dont think they really care abou thte students. Most of the money goes to adminstration.

Please consider voting for Arnold Swartzengger. A vote for the recall election is a vote for change adn a vote against the status quo.

"kids arnt alowed to be in a class during lucnh" school policy

its like this at jr high and high school

and no, a few years ago they got helped in buying the supplies now NO money aid,

its so bad that we almost dont have enf tolietpapper

we have to wright down 3x more notes becouse the teacher's CANT make more then 35 copys ADAY and they have a averge of 160 STUDETS

you do the math

We didnt get here overnight. The schools I went to like 20 years ago wernt much better. I always got the same grades no matter what. Other students cheated, failed tests and probably got better grades than me. I had one teacher that was an alcholic. Theres probably some good teachers out there but I cant imagine its alot of them. I know one of my high school girl friends is a teacher and shes great. Just because she got tired of mediocreoty.

Okay so not Arnolds. Theres 167 people running for Governor. A prostitute has to be better than Davis. The Status quo has to go.

Im series. Anything has got to be better than what CA and the rest of the country is getting. 167 votes is a lot better than 3.

I agree that I liked America better the way it was 20-30 years ago but perhaps that were gettign older is making us more aware to what is going on.

It seems like the stuff that is going on is more pervasive today than it was.

When I asked my family about it. They said we thought the government was going to save us all from Communism.

Today this does not seem true. It seems as if we are headed for communism. The computer stuff, everywhere reaks of big brother. Cameras and ID badges, bonus cards are everywhere in Big numbers.

If someone here said that America has lovabale qualites and potentiol. I would have to agree.

Id have to stick to my guns though and say, that our festerting stagnant cities are growing and pushing people out to the suburbs. Which will also become the status quo.

Actually, America was being slowly manipulated in this current direction for a lot longer than that...At least, when Abe Lincoln was in Office he said, "I have the Confederate Army in front of me & the banks behind me. Of the two, the banks are the most dangerous."

Other countries like Canada are moving to number one in quality of living. While the US slides to number three. Yup the US.

umm where did u get this info from? canada is down to like 4th, usa is at like 7th so far as i know, countries like sweden and norway have the top, canada was number 1 fer like 3 years tho, usa hasn't been number 1 fer quite some time as far as i know, they judge the quality of living by socialist stuff not by economy and military, it would make more sense if u were talkin about economies cuz usa's economy is going down, while EU and china are going up, and it's only gonna continue like that
you really shouldn't hate the country and it's ppl. for it's the rich ppl who are forcing policies on the gov's whom in turn force the policies on us and stick our face in the #, it's not only usa thats doing it man it's the gov's that are controlled by the rich, profits over people.......the bottom line is money nobody gives a #.

also about your comment about aids lowering the avg life expectancy, u'r not gonna go anywhere and find no aids n diseases, and they'll likely never get cured, they'll just make them into a liveable disease so ppl will continue to buy their drugs and make the economy go

so if u wanna hate someone hate the fortune 500, not the poor ignorant people of the usa(don't take offense to this ats americans i'm just stating that in general most americans are ignorant to most #)

banjo,

yeah man tell it like it is.

I live in Canada and I don't think it is number one. Also most immigrants that I know here secretly still want to go to the US, what does that tell you?

What a weasle. Hide behind your keyboard and mock the country where you don't have to FACE someone when you do it.

First off, I heard nothing in that rambling about hating the country. I only heard you hating the govt. Well, while I may agree in that aspect, I don't go to using racial slurs to make a point, and I will tell anyone and everyone face to face how scummy I think the govt is.

But you, asswipe, are no more than a treasonous weasle. It is people like you that elect the treasonous weasles in the whitehouse. You are the same as the people running the country you say you want to leave.

LEAVE THEN. No one is going to miss you. No one will mourn the passing of webjerkoff.

Slink your way to canada, and don't come back.

No we don't want anymore weasels in Canada, our Prime Minister is one too!

Please no more!

Actually I have a question for all the people that hate the way their country has become,

why don't you hate the immigration and the liberalism too that has come with or created the changed country around you?

why do you only hate what you perceive as being right wing? is it programming of your socialistic leaning teachers?

Frankly I hate the education system these days, that is what I hate.

No matter what websuspect says he/she is an example of the perfect American Patriot. Before everyone else slams me, hear me out. No matter how corrupt or deceitful this country is, you, as an American, still have the right to say however and whatever you feel. That is the rights that our country gives you. If you were in...lets say, Russia, and you said the exact things you said about USA, you and your relatives would mysteriously disappear. End of story. So, as much as you hate the US, and many other things it seems, you are enjoying the ultimate freedom. Speech.

darklanser,

hear hear!

so true, at least for the time being anyways.

but that is the irony, people here ranting about Bush but they don't see how liberal politically correct types stamp out freedom of speech also.

If you spend all day long watching your right hand then your left hand is free to do what it wants too.
