Newsweek couldn't accept links between Iraq and Al Qaeda and dismissed the explosive information.

The media effort to undermine the rationale for the war in Iraq has taken an interesting twist. Faced with the release of government documents indicating a substantial connection between al Qaeda and Saddam Hussein's Iraq, Newsweek has tried its best to dismiss or distort the evidence.

If the true evidence dosn't fit the media "playbook" it just ignores the truth. This article is just more evidence of the massive treason being committed in this country by "protected" icons of the past such as Newsweek and so many others............

How so very true. That's the way with today's modern media. Everything's got a spin, and if it doesn't fit properly, spin it till it fits or just drop the fact altogether.

The problem now for us normal average people is to sort out the spin from the fact, to find the truth that they did not mention. This is where it gets tough. What's the truth and what's not?

I'm lucky to get to watch CNN, BBC, Sky and al-Jazeera Arabic (with subtitles) in addition to the local news channels, so I can see the spin working in all the news media.

I refuse to believe any of their propaganda, rather make my own decisions, though I have to admit it's not very easy to resist the propaganda. Thankfully I get to watch the 'other side' if I feel I'm starting to fall for the other's spin and vice-versa.

It might be because both the CIA and the Czech BIS (who initially reported the possibility of a meeting) now say that it didn't happen? As does the 9/11 Commission report. Investigating it, they found that Atta was in Florida when the supposed "meeting" took place.

The nerve of Newsweek not reporting a false story!
I guess they should take a hint from right wing bloggers, who have reported the meeting as fact for years even though all the relevant parties now say it never happened.

But Newsweek didn't want to believe what was in these documents. So it found some anonymous officials who didn't trust the information and tried to cast doubt on them.

Accuracy In Media doesn't flaunt their conservative roots, that would destroy the illusion of it being an independent voice seeking, um, accuracy in media.

What shocks me is that every time some right-wing website has these great revelations, the White House never seems to mention it. I mean, it might help Bush's approval ratings if they actually used all of this evidence floating around the interweb.

But I guess that's why people love these sources, they say the things some people would love to hear, but the White House never says.
