FEMA has let nearly 11,000 unused manufactured homes deteriorate on old runways and open fields in Arkansas, and the agency spent $416,000 per person to house a few hundred Hurricane Katrina evacuees for a short time in Alabama last fall, government investigators told the Senate on Monday.

The allegations that the Federal Emergency Management Agency has wasted hundreds of millions of dollars on a host of bungled efforts to help evacuees were in a pair of reports to senators investigating the government's response to the disaster.

Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, chairwoman of the Senate Homeland Security committee, called the reports a "fresh indictment" of FEMA. She said investigators uncovered "shocking examples of absent safeguards and wasted tax dollars."

Sick and sad that this has happened. 11k homes rot while FEMA chases its tail in a circle! That sort of waste is ludicrous to even think about. There are people whose lives could have been changed with those homes. There are people who could have gotten a new lease on life with the donation of those homes. God, it boggles the mind, how can people be so amazingly selfish and arrogant and lazy and foolish and conceited and useless to everyone including themselves!

Now everyone's playing cover your butt, and the investment continues to go to waste.

Do these numbnut politicians and government 'nyuck-nyuck' employees realize they're instrumental in bringing suffering and misery to their nation? They deserve nothing less than shame and exile for their bewildering display of incompetence in the line of duty.
