Should I "give her up" or not? (Advice is needed)

This part caught my attention:

All the time this was going on her ex-boyfriend (he's also a friend of mine - they broke up about 6 months ago)

IMO, you should have consulted him first. If he says no (depending on how close of a friend he is) you either:

A) Best friend - do what he says
B) Friend - Is it worth it...your choice
C) Just someone you call a friend - he should let her go...she yours now

You can also get the skinny on her before you make any commitments.

That aside...go for it man. Do what you gotta do. If it works out, great. If it don't, atleast you tried.

We weren't even that close anyway really... it was one of those "hi, how are you? Well, see you later", kind of friendships.
