I thought i'd put all of my work that i like (not much of it lol) into one place, so sorry for any repeats of old stuff.

Can anyone give me any tips or pointers on how to become a better writer?

Thanx, Shinobi xXx

Final Reprieve

A final reprieve – granted to humanity,
A chance to realise that WE breed this insanity,
Whilst the candle of life continues burning,
This solitary world is endlessly turning,

Propagation of fear leads to pain and despair,
As our governments greed leaves a stale stench in the air,
Yet, disgustingly trivial the solution must be,
We blindly march on, unwilling to see.

A nation of puppets, strung up – in a noose,
Trapped, as if prisoners, we take the abuse,
If democracy reigns then why is it true,
That the opinions of many, are ignored by a few?

Our virtues left dangling, hanging by threads,
As we sit back, defeated by the propaganda we’re fed,
Whilst soldiers lay dying, there’s no real end in sight!
Is it really the fight for freedom, or the freedom to fight?

Some Body’s Daughter

Tears in the rain fall but nobody sees,
Hidden, she suffers as happiness flees,
Alone, once a child, now her child hood lost,
She stands isolated, crying, observing the cost,
Surrounded by lifeless corpses, numb,
She clutches her cross.

Unable to reason, to worry, to fear
Catatonic in stature, unable to hear,
Without motor reflex she falls to the ground,
No resistance, on impact no whimper or sound,
As her face lays on gravel, blankly staring at void,
She’s alone, isolated, only bodies around.

So much pain, so many victims,
Stranded we watch, nothing we can do,
Their lives crash away with angry seas,
No ripples follow, simply silence.

Kvitochka (Little Flower)

My wild flower, exotic and free,
Catching the sunlight whilst smiling at me,
My delightful kvitochka, radiant and true,
Looking so beautiful whilst I’m smiling at you,
The earth and mother nature combine into one,
Symbiotic perfection observed by the sun,
Summer breezes blow gently, as soft as your kiss,
As they pass, I must also, my flower I’ll miss.

The news that I’d lost u brought me to tears
I still remember the emptiness I felt, already missing u
The way u made me laugh, think, wonder…love
The idea that someday, memories may all disappear, fills me with a void
A dimension that’ll remain unclaimed by any heart
By any soul, that will stay empty until my life ceases to exist
So let me take this opportunity to just say…
I adore you, dream you, worship the ground you walk on.
U are the love of my life

Obsession

Do you really take me for a fool?
Is that all I’ll ever be to you,
There's a sadness that you don't see,
Now I know how you think of me.
So carry me away, let me drift with the tide,
So I can find a place of solitude,
Where I can sit...decide,
How I can deal, with what I mean to you.
To be around you, yet feel so lost,
Emotions are strong, the pain they cost,
I’ve been cheating myself thinking you’re more than a friend,
Too scared to see the way u pretend,
It’s not love, its obsession, plain and true,
But I can’t deny…I long to be alone with you.

Living Only In This Moment

Sitting as the sun falls from the world,
I hold your hand and we stare, thinking about life
I cannot imagine being here with anyone but you.
As you look into my eyes you cry…tears fall slowly
As we share a moment that must end.
But for now we are together
Sitting as the sun falls from the world,
Replaced by stars, that shine as bright as your smile.

Melodical Thinking

Sad memories, not my own, linger on my shoulder,
I live them in daydreams as I fly through silent air.
I am strong against fear but as I imagine, I fall
Into the ocean of loneliness, here only I can swim.
Melody is my saviour, travelling on the wind,
Heart beating, feeling the emotion of musical sorrow,
I lay alone but hope always remains,
Alone I will fight, and rise again.

Intensely staring into her eyes,
He lay, fogetting all that occupied his distant mind,
Her heartbeat felt through skin so soft,
In a life so short, they were eternal.

I wish that we'd met a few years in the past,
I wish i was sure that our feelings would last,
I wish in the night you'd put your head on my chest,
I wish i was confident that i'm really 'the best',
I wish you were happier with me than at home,
I wish i was with you, not here all alone,
I wish we could live on our own somewhere new,
I wish, but i know wishes never come true.

Shinobi--it's difficult to do rhyming poetry with depth and not make it seem juvenile--but you do it very well. it is a gift. For some reason I feel you are young--keep working on the rhym--try to, and it is difficult, match the syllables in each line. Good writing--I'll be looking for your work.

Angry Little World

Silent victories, bravely fought,
Hidden armies left distraught,
Death, destruction without thought,
Angry little world.

Mutilation, suffocation,
Remnants of a ruined nation,
Ultimate annihilation,
Angry little world.

Explosive action, deathly silence,
Friendly banter, extreme violence,
Mutual gain, unfair alliance,
Angry little world,

Erupting trouble, distant lands,
Secret orders, blood-stained hands,
Our childrem dead on foreign sands
Angry little world.

A poem written for the girl i love.

Complaining about me doesn’t make it right,
When I’m laying alone feeling lonely at night,
Venting your anger at me isn’t nice,
When I’ve already said the same things to you…twice!
Drinking with friends hasn’t really upset me,
Though what does is you getting so drunk you forget me!
I miss you like crazy, but this has to end,
You're treating me more everyday like a friend.

Shin, haven't been on this thread for awhile, but glad I did today. I really enjoy your rhyme and where you let your mind go to find it. Again--it's difficult to be deep with rhyme but you do it so well.

Shin :
I always thought it was harder to rhyme.
Your poems are easy to read and contain
truly heart-felt experiences.

Thanx for the comments, i actually find it almost easier to rhyme with poetry than not... i think i just like the way that words form around a structure and there seems to be more emphasis on the sound of the word.

Here's a simple poem i wrote last night

Just a secret never told, whispered in my ear,
Shadowed words said unto me, dissolve into a tear,
Past forgotten, future gone, present nowhere near,
Lost emotions fill my head where until now was fear.

I also write non rhyming poetry but i havent been posting it. Rhyming seems to get more attention i guess lol

Thanx again for the feedback, i'll post some non rhyming stuff later tonite
