the United Nations is suggested to be privatized. This idea is due to the numerous scandals of late, and with the hope that the resources will be better utilized.

Annan prepares for privatisation of UN

THE United Nations has drawn up plans to privatise the bulk of its staff at its New York headquarters or have their work done more cheaply overseas. The move is in response to mounting demands for reform from the United States, its biggest paymaster.

The Business has learned that Kofi Annan, the UN secretary general, has commissioned a study into the outsourcing of the department for General Assembly and Conference Management, the main UN decision-making body whose officials issue about 200 documents a day in six languages.

The move comes as the UN grapples with the oil-for-food scandal in which officials have been accused of taking bribes from Saddam Hussein’s regime.

Annan will report by the end of February on management reforms to the General Assembly. According to an internal UN document previewing Annan’s report obtained by The Business, he will include “proposals to outsource or off-shore select administrative processes” – suggesting its New York headquarters may shed staff.

Accountability, or control?

Are we handing over control of the world to corperations, or is it simply the answer to the problems?

Personally I get a bad feeling from this.

The UN does practically nothing as it is, IMO. Might as well outsource it and get a better price.

Corporations already do control much of what masquerades as global policy, so now we'll have UN, Inc. Hopefully the first matter of business will be to fire Kofi Annan and hire the Trump in his place.

Well that's just great.

What's next, McDonalds buying out the federal government? Trading shares of Texas on the open market?

Okay, maybe that's a little extreme... but still... I didn't like the U.N. before, and this step toward the corporate mega-states so popular in science fiction is damned sure not going to fix that.

Uh, AA, the corporations took over a LONG time ago. Don't tell me you have really believed in all of that Democracy and voting stuff!

If you look at how they have handled all activities since the creation of the U.N., it's only accomplishment is to insure that socialism has been propped up and those most in need of assistance have been ignored while horrible death and destruction has been allowed in the tortured continent of Africa.
Really, that organization cannot get any worse. Privatization is one thing I never thought of, although I don't think it will fix much. It isn't as if such entities are above scandal and fraud, as we all know.

I thought the UN's motto was to punish the innocent and reward the guilty. They shouldn't have much trouble outsourcing that function, corporations are past masters at it.

The world bank
will be the owner thats for sure.
Hei we own you we tell you what to do, we pull the stirng now dance.
And every thing will become by intrest, they want something they kill, and then send peace keepers to bring freedom
how sweet is that.
Who exactly is behind the world bank?

I think this are demands from the US, the UN's biggest paymaster to either

  • privatise the bulk of its staff at its New York headquarters, at least some administrative office things

  • or have their work done more cheaply overseas.

Sounds way to capitalistic for me. Private organizations seem to have more of an obligation to deliver profits to their private shareholders...

...surely the U.N of all organizations should prescribe to the "by the people, for the people" ideology.

It seems like everybody is misunderstanding the article. They're only talking about outsourcing some of the administrative functions - ie: printing reports and answering the phones.

The UN has been a political football since it started - and right in the middle of a tug-of-war between democracy and private interests. The pendulum has swung back and forth time and again.

Now, the big boyz are making their big play.

    I'm not surprised - but it's sickening.

Outsourcing snowball effect in play and on the way to McWorld Inc.
You don't get a vote on that either, unless your a stockholder.

Corporate takeover of governments, so see the prospectus.

I do not understand your point.

What "big boy game" is it if one (here: US, the biggest payer of the UN) sees...

that the lady who answers the phone and belongs to the UN staff gets much more salary than the lady of a private big intl. company in a same function

...and then demands to reduce personal costs, if possible?

I can't see anything wrong with that.

You had to read the whole post:

    So:

    1. The UN has been a political football since it started;

    2. In the middle of a tug-of-war between democracy and private interests;

    3. The pendulum has swung back and forth, time and again;

    4. Now, the big boyz are making their big play.

This means that steps are being taken to ensure that the UN never again has even the possibility to represent democracy in the world.

Concepts like "edge of the wedge," "implementation strategy" and "control of communication systems" might be helpful to consider.

I'd recommend searching wikipedia, but unfortunately, the big boyz are after democracy everywhere and wiki is down too.

    Uh, what?
The United Nations was created by the same ones who pushed for Democracy, which is NOT as you think it is, as you have been told many times before.
The United Nations was created to have more control over the world and its denizens, reaching beyond the Democratically-controlled nations and, by using Communism, driving the world toward what it is they have always wanted, their ultimate fantasy - total control.
There is no theft of Democracy, as it was never anything more than a tool to the next step through synthesis with Communism, which we have seen happen since the beginning of the Cold War.

Oh, but this is nothing new, you have been told this before. By the way, I do not need to read Wiki, I could write a Wiki definition that would be more informative.

A little about the U.N. that has been on the board for a few months, for anyone who bothers to read the Weekly News Letters:

    www.abovetopsecret.com...

You'll see that there will be no saving the U.S. citizens, or any other citizens, for that matter.

privatizing...or piratetizing.....thats what the u.n. needed to become more of an 'influence' in the world....to be run like a big corporation....to become a multi-national corp..not accountable to anyone but it's board members..which of course will be employed by rothchilds, rockefellers, ect....you know..these are the families the control the u.s. and other 'developed' countries......
    the clock is ticking......

Well TC I must be in favor of a NWO because I fail to see the evidence of a plot by the "elite" (whoever you mean by that) to construct a unified world government designed to serve their interests. I'll certainly concede that the U.N. has gotten completely off track and has become a bloated refuge for self-serving diplomats and bureacrats, but I cannot concede the existence of an underlying/unifying plot--the way you seem to envision. The U.N. is so inept they are their own worst enemy. A thorough cleansing of the entire organization is sorely needed; however, I think we should be very careful not to throw the baby out with the bath water.
