Nuclear Terror - Paper Tiger?

For many years we the people have witnessed the pronunciations from our 'Leaders' regarding the possibility of a Terrorist Act against the United States or the U.K. or other countries utilising nuclear weapons. The rumblings in the press about such items as "missing Russian nuclear suitcase bombs" have been well placed at the proper time in order for the Governments to appear reactionary, yet with such timing that the people are frightened enough not to question the legislation these Governments place into Law, or the actions taken by those Governments.

Is it possible that these 'suitcase bombs' never existed?

That their invention was well placed as a tool to use in the eventuality they wanted a "substantial" threat against other Governments?

Is it possible that the power enclaves in the U.S.A., U.K., Russia, and other countries decided that the continued threats of terrorist attacks with ever greater weapons of mass destruction were required in order to keep their respective populations under control through the politics of fear?


If these weapons do exist - - why have they not been used by the Chechen Separitists, who would have had first and direct contact with the devices when the USSR dissolved?

Why does Dubya now speak about a 9/11 repeat in Los Angeles instead of mentioning the 'suitcase' bombs?

Note: The U.S. Bank Tower in Los Angeles is built to California Earthquake standards, the result of an aircraft striking the building would result in the deaths of those on the plane, possibly a few on the ground, and a couple of hundred (at most) in the building itself. The structure is far superior to the WTC towers and any terrorist doing the research would find that the U.S. Bank Tower makes a very poor target.

Well the very existence of "suitcase" nukes is debateable, a suitcases can be really small. But its clear that nuclear weapons can be made to fit into say a backpack. Just look at the the W54 warhead used on the Davy Crockett weighed just 51 pounds for proof of that.

Countries that make such small nuclear devices which is very complicated keep a good eye on them. The real threat would be someone getting thier hands on nuclear material and making a crude and large (compared to say a w54) nuclear bomb. It wouldnt be that hard to make or smuggle in a cargo container.
